Have a Prime Film 1800u scanner and have used it with Windows XP; now have a new HP desktop with Windows 8 and would like to continue using the same scanner. Any usable drivers available?
PrimeFilm 1800u will not work on Windows 8. Hello, This scanner will not be supported on windows 8, all of our USB 1.0 technology scanner will no longer be supported beyond Windows 7. Wendy
Here is the response I received from the company for the question:
Where can I get drivers for windows 8? Windows 7 drivers are not working on Windows 8.
Response:
Solved !!
Though the scanner company says:
"This scanner will not be supported on windows 8, all of our USB 1.0 technology
scanner will no longer be supported beyond Windows 7."
there is no reason why this will not work in Windows 8.
Basically, driver signature enforcement has to be disabled
in Windows 8.
Here is what I did to make the 1800u film scanner to work
with Windows 8:
1. Disconnected the scanner from my computer.
2. Downloaded the English version of the driver from:
http://scanace.com/support/Cyb_X_SF.htm
3. Saved and installed the file:
SF_ENG_1.3.exe (from above link)
This installed the Twain driver for the scanner
and an application called CyberView X.
4. Connected the scanner to my computer
and turned it on.
5. Went to Device Manager on my computer
and looked under: Imaging Devices
There was a triangular yellow "!" icon next to the scanner
entry.
6. Restarted the computer so that I got the screen
for Startup Settings.
This can be done in a couple of ways:
- One way is from the windows 8 metro screen
- Another way is to use the command:
shutdown.exe /r /o from the command prompt
Details for both are available here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/...
Search on Google for plenty of examples on disabling the driver signature.
7. From the Startup Settings, I selected the 7th option:
Disable driver signature enforcement
8. After the computer restarted, I went back to the Device Manager
Right clicked on the "!" icon under Imaging Devices and selected
Update Driver Software....
9. In the resulting window, selected: Search automatically for updated driver software
10. This opened the Windows Security window
with two options:
Don't install this driver software and
Install this driver software anyway
11. I clicked on Install this driver software anyway
12. Driver was successfully installed !!
13. Launched CyberView X and scanned a negative successfully
Hope this helps someone to use the primefilm 1800u successfully
on Windows 8 !
The driver can now be found at:http://download.scanace.com.tw/CyberView...

SOURCE: I need a driver for the Pacific Image PrimeFilm
Here you are: http://www.scanace.com/en/download.php
Go there and select the correct printer and operating system and it will provide you with a download link :)
SOURCE: Is there a Vista SP2 driver for a Pacific Image
I see a Vista driver that is untested in Win7 but doesn't have any service pack limitations. This is free to download.

I hope this helps.
