Adjust by measuring between the wheels {metal rim} at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions. I.e, halfway point on the rim at the front and rear. You can measure between the tire, but it is more difficult to get a good, repeatable measurement. If it were an MTD, you could adjust the toe by bending the tie rod/ drag link.

Thanks Tom. However...it doesn't appear that there is a way to adjust the toe-in on my JD 145. The tie-rods are not threaded at all - just solid. Since they are toed out so bad, I could just bend the tie-rod some more - maybe I'll give that a shot?

If they are toed out, your tie rod is likely bent. Remove it, and whang it with a hammer on concrete to straighten it out.

I'll give it a shot - thank you for the input.

SOURCE: how to ajust drive belt 145 john deere

It is better to replace and not adjust the wheel drive belt, too loose and it slips, too tight and you ruin very expensive bearings YOU can not replace...Belts are cheap, bearings are very expensive!

SOURCE: When I go to engage the blades on my John Deere

How excatly does it shut down? does it slowly bog down or immediatly shut down? Does the belts squeel when you engage them? Things to check are the reverse, and seat safety switches if it shuts down immediatly or a pinched or twisted belt along with pulleys that may be bound up and frozen.

How do you adjust the steering toe on a L130 lawn mower?

The L130 off of the show room floor does not have adjustable drak link / tie rods.

One of the 300 hour inspections is to inspect the steering pivot bushings. You jack up the front from the center and check for play of the pivot bushings by teetering the tie at the 6 and 12 oclock positions. If you get a lot of movement the bushings are bad. If the bushings are ok (I doubt they are) then you can also add adjustable tie rods

They are more expensive at JD ($66.00)

Just note the pivot bushings do NOT show up on any JD diagram but they do exist. Check with JD parts. They most likely know the PN from memory.
