I have two of these units with only line-1 plugged in (same phone number, separate jacks). Both phones are flashing that I have messages waiting on line 2 and 4. I don't have a line 2,3, or 4.
RCA said to press & hold the "DELETE" button for 20 seconds, then press & release again. Nothing. ATT said to pick up the receiver and dial ##002# - nothing again.
~*~*~ SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED! ~*~*~ After talking to both ATT and RCA with no success...I figured it out myself. ~*~*~ Plug your phone line into the "DATA PORT" on the back of the unit. Slide the "DATA PORT" switch to whichever line is showing it has a message. Press the corresponding Line# button on the front of the phone. (you should hear the dial tone) Dial your voice mail number. Let it answer, (enter your passcode if needed), then hang up! - That's it! example: MSG Waiting:L4 - I plugged the phone line into the Data Port and moved the data port switch to "4". I pressed LINE 4 on the front of the phone, dialed my voice mail number, it answered, I put in my passcode. (It said that I did not have any new voice mails), then hung up! That's it! Message Indicator light off!!! Repeat for each line that shows a (false) message waiting. ~~~Don't forget to move your phone line back into it's correct port on the back of your phone.~~~~*~*~ SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED! ~*~*~ After talking to both ATT and RCA with no success...I figured it out myself. ~*~*~ Plug your phone line into the "DATA PORT" on the back of the unit. Sounds like your phone has a short. If you see the message "line in use" call your number, is it busy, now unplug your phone and call your number again, is it ringing? Indicates a short, possibly in your equipment. As for message " no line" is the electric connected to the phone and did you check for dial tone in tat particular jack with a known, working phone first...just to make sure there's dt @ the jack. Good Luck :)
What is the make or brand/model of the phone you are referring to? Does it has a line 1/2 selector or a ringer selector on the panel?
Maybe the phone you have has a selector on its side.
I need more info.
Best regards.
The phone will show that "line in use" message when it's not connected correctly.
If your two phone lines come in to one jack, make sure you are using a 4-wire line cord connected to the "line 1 and line 2" jack on the phone. You may be using a 2-wire cord so the second line isn't reaching the phone.
If the two lines are on separate jacks you need to connect line 2 to the separate "line 2" jack.
If you know for a fact that both lines are properly connected to the phone and it still doesn't see the second line, then it's time for a new phone.
Hello Lazylizard, basically error 232 indicates that a communication failure has occurred between the two machines Following these steps may help resolving your issue
1. Make sure that the phone cord is
plugged directly from the wall jack into the back port of the fax
machine that is marked "Line" or "To Wall Jack", or that has a
wall-jack symbol. 2. Verify that the line interface unit (LIU) (the box that the phone cord plugs into) is seated fully into the back of the fax. 3. Remove any other device from the line
such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering
machines, and retry the fax communication. 4. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line. 5.Try using a different telephone cord. 6. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems. 7. Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if the same error occurs repeatedly.
he charge/in use light on the base of your phone flashes
whenever you have messages waiting in your voice mailbox for voicemail
through your phone company. You may need to occasionally reset the
indicator if it remains on after you have retrieved your messages. To
reset the indicator, press and hold find handset for 5 seconds.
I have 6 of these phones. No problem for a year or so, then one phone got the message light stuck on. Tried some online suggestions without success. Powering down etc. failed to fix it so I stuck a piece of tape over the led.
A couple of weeks ago line 2 failed (externally) and ATT sent a tech out who repaired it and also cleaned up the line. When the line came back, all 6 phones had the message light stuck on!
Talked with the tech here and with the ATT support and nothing worked. Eventually the tech here left as it was not a line fault - but he said he would leave the problem open.
That evening a young ATT guy called. He tried a number of different settings and changes - he was really determined! He called Kentucky and Minnesota and part of the advice was "give up and don't call the customer back"!
Finally he found a configuration option in the central office switch (exchange) for the line called CWMI (Call Waiting Message Indicator). Apparently this option was originally active but was changed when the local trunk was upgraded to fibre over the last year or so.
Once he enabled this option (we have call waiting and caller ID on call waiting on this line), the message lights on all the phones turned off and have worked normally since (10 days), including the one that was "broken" for over a year!
I really credit the tech with persistance on the issue.
Don't know about other models, but I just called RCA small business
phone support (800-511-3180) to find out how to clear the message light
indicator on my 25210 2-line cordless phone when it continues to blink
but there is no message.
All you have to do is hold down the delete button for a few seconds and
it will clear. Hope this helps someone else from going batty!
You can get a splitter for it which will then divide that one phone jack into 3 out or 4 out which ever you need. the only problem that you might run into is how close the phones might be to each other. Otherwise there isn't much other ways around it with only one phone jack.
To Install
1. Open the battery door with a ballpoint pen. Install one 9-volt alkaline battery (not included)
and replace cover.
2. Plug the telephone line cord (connected to the back of the TAD2012) into the modular wall
jack.
3. Plug AC adapter into standard 120-volt outlet. Plug your phone directly into an outlet, not into
an extension cord.
Answering System Operation
Recording Your Personal Greeting
1. Press and hold down the GREETING control.
2. After the beep, speak towards the front of the base; you have 30 seconds.
3. When finished, release button. Your unit will play back your greeting and
reset to answer incoming calls.
4. Adjust volume control on the side of the unit to set the speaker to the desired level.
Select the Number of Rings
Choose 2,4 or TS (Toll Saver), which programs the number of rings that you want before your unit answers.
To Play Back Your Messages
1. When the message indicator flashes, you have received messages.
2. To hear your messages, press and release the PLAY control. Your unit will automatically
reset after messages are played.
To Save Your Messages
After the last message and 2 beep tones, press the STOP/SAVE control.
IN CASE OF POWER FAILURE OR IF ANSWERING SYSTEM IS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY
If a power failure occurs or the plug comes out of the wall, your unit
will shut down until the power is restored. One 9-volt battery must be
installed to retain your personal greeting message and incoming
messages during the power failure. Occasionally outside factors, such
as power surges, may adversely affect the unit. If the unit is not
operating properly or if the light continues to flash once power is
restored, try these steps:
1. Unplug the AC adapter from the power outlet.
2. Remove the 9-volt battery. Replace with a fresh 9-volt battery.
3. Plug AC adapter back into power outlet.
4. When your unit is initially plugged in, it will check its memory for approximately 3 seconds.
Three deep tones will be heard if you attempt to record a greeting message before this
period.
5. Record a new greeting message.
Indicator Status: Message indicator is consistently flashing slowly.
Reason: No greeting message has been recorded.
Action: Record your greeting.
Indicator Status: Message indicator flashes rapidly.
Reason: A 9-volt alkaline battery (not included) has not been installed or needs to be replaced.

Indicator Status: Message indicator flashes to indicate number of messages received,
and then repeats.
Reason: Messages have been received.
