Water just runs through tub

When I start the washer it begins to fill but then goes right out the drain. The tub never fills with water. I checked to make sure the spin cycle worked and it does but I just can't hold water in the tub. Help is greatly appreciated.

The problem you are experiencing is called "siphoning". Check the drain hose going into the standpipe (drain pipe). If the hose is shoved down in the standpipe too far, or if you've sealed the top of the standpipe where the hose goes into, you have created a vacuum and are causing the water to continuously drain. The drain line needs an air gap to prevent this problem. Pull the drain hose back out enough to allow an air gap and make sure you don't have anything covering the top of the standpipe. Hope this helps.

My maytag mtw5600tq1 washer won't hold water. Its

Hi,
Its sounds like you have a siphon going on, this happens when the drain hose it too low during fill and as the water enters the unit it exits through the drain hose. To stop this the drain hose needs to be higher than the tub itself, meaning: raise the drain hose behind the washer to about control panel area. This will or should stop the siphon effect and allow the water to remain in the tub. If the drain hose is low this siphon will start again.
I hope this helps

Washer will not hold water

You need to check drain hose, the drain hose needs to be above the tub. If it isn't the water will just drain out when you fill

Water runs but doesn't fill tub and wont spin if put on spin cycl

The water-level switch regulates your washer's fill volume. This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch.

The water is going out the drain and cannot fill up the tub.

Check out the height of your drain. If the drain is too low, the water will drain right out of the tub. Check out the attached photo. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Water will not stay filled in tub on rinse cycle

It sounds like a siphon issue.
Check that the drain hose does a high loop before it goes into the drain pipe. (ie. drain hose loops above the water level inside the tub). Make sure the drain hose is not pushed too far down into the drain pipe. Also if the drain hose is sealed to the drain pipe this will create an airlock and a siphon will occur, allow air to enter between drain hose and drain pipe connection.
This should help you but if there is still a problem let me know and I'll try to assist you further.
Good luck!

Maytag legacy series tub wont fill

Your drain hose is too low or there is no air gap where the hose enters the drain line.
This causes the water to siphon out as it fills.

Tub fills only 1/2 full but water keeps running as if the tub is not full. If the water level is set to 1/2 or less, tub fills 1/2 full and begins to cycle. The water is running into the tub but not...

Check the drain hose to make sure you have a high loop, ie. make sure the drain hose loops above the height of the washer lid before going to the drain pipe.
Also make sure the drain hose is not going too far down into the drain pipe.
You may be getting a siphon effect.

Water runs into tub but does not fill?

be sure the drain hose is not lower than the wash tub this will caust the water to run out, 2nd be sure the drain hose is not pushed to far into the house stand pipe and the there is rome for air to go inbetween the drain hose and stand pipe eather of these will cause the machine to siphon mostly on rince cycle or on the 2nd and third loads you do. last your house drain could be starting to back up fill the washer with water and listen to it drain if you hear a gurggling sound in the house pipe you may need a plumber to cleanthis out for you.
