Give a model number and I can look it up.It's probably the switch on the door, but need to know the model to determine.

Common problem the water line inside the freezer door is frolzen up . to fix remove everthing from the freezer door , turn off freezer . open freezer door and put a blanket over the opening to the freezer leaveing the door to room temp for an hour or so to defrost . check if defrosted . remove blanket close door . this will happen with ge , try seyying the freezer control on the next lower number (warmer)

Water not coming out from water dispenser

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , turn on the dispensor light for several hours , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .
If the door line is frozen , GE has a heater which is easily installed , to keep this from happening again pt # WR49X10173

In my GE Performance refrigerator side-by-side Ice is being made, but no water is dispensing. The GE Smartfilter is atleast 5 yrs old (I never used/never changed) because we always bought water from...

The water that goes to the door actually is routed through the hinge on the freezer door. Take a look and see if you can't find where the tube comes out and goes into the water dispenser. I bet it has come loose and is rerouting the water down the side of the fridge and onto the floor; hence the puddle.

Also, just because you don't drink the water doesn't mean you don't drink the water! If you use ice from the ice dispenser then you ARE drinking the water. The water that feeds the ice trays comes through the filter, so you might consider changing it every 6 months rather you use the water dispenser or not.

Hope this helps, I have one too and its causing a different set of problems...

Ge Profile ice maker not working

you either have a bad water valve, which it is sticking open or B. the ice maker is not shutting the valve off.

GE older ice maker won't make ice

pull the cover of the front of the ice maker. there should be directions as to what way to turn the main gear (use a philips screw driver). advance the ice maker until it starts to run on its own. if water comes in at the end of the cycle then you need a new ice maker. if no water comes in check to make sure the fill tube is not frozen. if it is clear replace the water valve.

Good Luck,
Todd

Ice and Water not dispensing. Light button not working

INSIDE THE DISPENSER ASSEMBLY IS A SEPARATE ELECTRONIC BOARD THAT CONTROLS THE DISPENSER.
OCCASIONALLY, THE DOOR SOLENOID OR THE CUBE ICE SOLENOID WILL SHORT OUT CAUSING A BURNOUT OF THE DISPENSER CONTROL BOARD. CHECK FOR A BURNT SMELL COMING FROM THE DISPENSER HOUSING. IF YOU SMELL IT, THE BOARD AND/OR SOLENOID NEED TO BE REPLACED.
