Just ordered and received replacement part 1013282 kohler fill valve assembly. it did not come with the sheath. apparently it is a seperate part but has been discontined. is there a replacement for the sheath or no longer needed?

There is a volume control screw on the valves usually a plastic thumbscrew on side of valve turn clockwise until they quiet up the plumber should have adjusted that these are very tempermental toilets but when adjusted properly are excellent toilets I have 2 in my own home

Go to the Kohler web page and try to find your toilet. The numbers you have here are not jiving. They have pictures of all models. Once you get the Kohler Mdl. number, you should be able to obtain info on which fill valve you need. Most of the parts are not that hard to purchase.
