SOURCE: Hi, I have a Kohler toilet

Go to the Kohler web page and try to find your toilet. The numbers you have here are not jiving. They have pictures of all models. Once you get the Kohler Mdl. number, you should be able to obtain info on which fill valve you need. Most of the parts are not that hard to purchase.

The refill action on the tank starts and stops several times before filling the bowl.

Hello Joyce Andrews,

It would be really helpful had you disclosed what type of FILL-VALVE or commode you are questioning...

Without that VITAL information I can speculate
that you have a KOHLER type valve that is VERY EASILY
knocked off its VERTICAL orientation

Sadly it pivots rather easily to the front or back of the tank...
INHIBITING the FREE MOTION of its FLOAT.

Open the tank and VISUALLY look to see the float shaft is free to move easily up & down.

If the valve body is not PERFECTLY PLUM
(perpendicular to the floor) the valve will behave poorly.

Gently adjust the vertical positioning.

My Kohler K4493-AA occasionally produces a high-pitched whine like a smoke alarm. Flushing stops it, but then the sound comes back later. Any ideas?

Typically it's one of two things. Either there is debris (Sand, gravel or hard water deposits) under the seal diaphragm inside the fill valve or the diaphragm has deteriorated. Shut off the water to the tank, take the cap off of the fill valve and remove the diaphragm. If the diaphragm has deteriorated, replace it Kohler #83143. Otherwise, rinse it off, turn the water on just a bit to let it bubble over the top of the fill valve and rinse out any debris. Then with the water trickling, put the diaphragm back in and replace the top assembly. When all is secure, turn the water back on to full.

Have old kohler, i do not know what the inside flapper part is. However toilet will flush but tank will not fill. I can turn thhe water to the tank off and turn on again and it will fill

This indicated that there is dirt of corrosion in the flush valve assembly that get jarred loose and flushed out when turning on the supply valve below. My recommendation is replacing the flush valve assembly with a Fluidmaster flush valve. Be sure to follow the instructions when removing the old valve and installing the new one. If you need step by step instructions, please message me and I will provide them.

My Kohler toilet tank is not filling fully, the water that is filling the tank sounds so loud it sounds as if the sink faucet is running instead of the toilet filling and the bowl does not fill fully and...

Change out the ball **** and float assembly and flapper valve to one of the newer types...
Also you can set the level of water in the tank by an adjustment screw located at the top of the ball ****.
The Flapper valve on the bottom of the tank also needs replacement, that is causing the tank not to drain properly.

Kohler one piece part number 1013282

Hi kayela,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: Just replace the fill valve for kohler one piece andthe fill valve sprays a stream of water out of the top and onto the undersideof the lid is that supposed to happen?

For some reason I can't seem to get the picture up. Nevertheless, the answer is no, it should not be leaking. Did you take a picture of the original before removal? Do you still have the original? Look carefully at the diference between the two. Make sure it's an exact duplicate and isn't missing parts. These one piece toilet parts are expensive but the suplier sometimes makes mistakes. You can only solve this problem if they match.
