Each time I turn my PC on, I hear a buzzing sound that runs until the computer is is finally booted and connected to the Internet. This started just a few days ago. Once the buzzing sound ends, the computer runs somewhat okay, except that I keep encountering unusual issues here and there. Occasionally, the buzzing sound reappears than stops again. I also noticed that a USB port emitted a spark when I tried to plug a device into it today. That has never happened before. I saw the spark jump to the plug and then my computer rebooted itself. I don't know if I am having one or more than one issue here. The power supply for my computer doesn't seem to be available anymore, so I am not certain about what to replace it with. These are the simple specs of my computer: Visionman WidowPC Core 2 Gaming System - WGMI-2G3110 OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10 Processor Count: 2 RAM: 4095 Mb Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 520, 2047 Mb Hard Drives: C: Total - 715401 MB, Free - 477348 MB; O: Total - 1430798 MB, Free - 1221473 MB; Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC., P5KPL-CM HEC ACE 580UB Power Supply Antivirus: Norton 360, Updated and Enabled Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!
I think that your PSU is dead and your motherboard must be dead too (not sure)
Thanks for your reply. I'm leaning towards the power supply too. The strange thing is that the buzzing sound isn't all that loud, but it happens just when I first turn the system on. After a few minutes, the sound stops. The computer boots and everything seems okay. I have the computer on right now (for about an hour). If I shut down right now and reboot, there wouldn' be any buzzing sound. If I shut down and didn't reboot for a few hours, I might hear it again for a few minutes. A agree though, that the problem seems to be the power supply. I don't know if anything else is damaged. I do know that the HEC ACE 850UB PSU isn't made anymore, so I can't buy a replacement. I sent HEC an email asking for advice, but got no reply from them. If I were to find another 850W PSU that matched the specs of the one I have, even if it isn't the exact same one, do you think it would be okay to use it as a replacement? I happen to like this computer, but if it's going to be a nightmare to fix it, I'll just get a new or refurbed computer. I rellay need some practical advice on how to proceed. Thanks again!!
with new information i think that your psu is instable you must buy a new one

SOURCE: Graphics Cards causes computer to not display
Hi there.
I'm working on the assumption that the graphics card is a PCI Express card.
Remember that if you are swapping from on-board graphics to a card you have to go into the BIOS and tell the machine that the primary graphics adapter is AGP/PCI Express.
Plug the VGA cable into the on-board graphics port, start the computer and enter the BIOS, tell the computer to use the AGP/PCI card as primary, press F10, save the changes and exit the bios.
The computer will try and restart so let it boot to post and turn it off, then put in your card and try to boot again.
Please post back if you need more help or advice.
Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

SOURCE: Hello, I recently bought a CX500
Did you check the battery on the motherboard? The battery should read 3.3 volts with a volt meter. If you don't have a meter you can try swapping the battery from another motherboard. Or have the battery checked at a Radio Shack store. Also if you still have the Seasonic try hooking it back uo temporally outside the case to check if it is a power supply issue. If the old power supply failed while being connected to this motherboard it could have damaged it.
Thanks for using FixYa
