Just like when you folded it down to remove it that same latch release must be use to refold it. If that does not work flip the seat face down so you can look at the locks on the side hinge point and see if both sides are releasing. If not it is a cable issue. These can be released by hand but if re installed you will have a very hard time removing the seat again. Good Lock. If all else fails and you don't want to spend a lot go to the junk yard for advise or a paint shop they deal with this all the time.
Is this a fold-down rear seat? Is it jammed the the folded or open position? If folded, try putting some weight and pressure on the seat back while trying the release lever (having an 8-year old bounce on it would probably work well :-}). If it's jammed in the open position, have the same "assistant" bounce back and forth against the seat back while you attempt the release lever. If no 8-year old is readily available, have your spouse/significant other, friend (or enemy) perform the same actions as would the child. The latch may simply need some "persuasion". Good luck.
That just happened to our 05 equinox. We have car seats so one of the seats was reclined just a bit. This will cause the seatbelt to lock. We took out the car seat, folded down the other seat and folded it back. It cause the locked seat to release and unfold.
I had the same problem on my '03. The seats would not fold down using the latch release as I had always done. So I tried a combination of pulling up on the side latch AND the top latch and the seat folded down. It really doesn't FIX the problem but circumvents offending defective part. I will use this method until it doesn't work then I might shell out the $$$$$ to the dealer.
OK, I finally figured out how to fold & unfold this ******!
To fold: Stand behind your stroller. Go to the joint in the middle of the push handle. You have to simultaneously push up on the button underneath the joint and pull back on the little trigger at the front of the joint. I've found that this will require both hands. Doing this will unlatch the joint, and you now need to push it forward to fold the handle into a "V" shape. Now look down to the crossbars just above the rear wheels, and you'll see a handle (kind of like on a sutcase) above a sort-of triangular-shaped piece of plastic. Lifting up on either of these will collapse the frame the rest of the way. Push the rear wheels as far forward (toward the front wheels) as you can, and it will latch shut. If you swivel the front wheels around to the rear, the stroller will stand on its own
To unfold: From above and behind your folded stroller, with it standing on its front wheels (as described above), place both of your hands on the side/corner joints of the rear push bar. From the top, run both of your thumbs down the back side of both rails. Your thumbs should hit a 'bump', then a slightly smaller 'bump' immediately underneath the first. That second 'bump' on each side is the latch that keeps your stroller folded. Squeeze both the latches on each side with your thumbs, and you should hear them unlatch. Now the frame is free, and you have to push down on the suitcase handle in the middle while lifting up on the center joint of the push bar. Pull back on the push bar until it latches, and then keep pushing down on the suitcase handle until the whole thing latches.
Good luck!
