There are two integrated circuits called convergence amplifiers , they need to be replaced. this is a common failure on this model. the cost to replace with parts is around 250.00 dls depending on the tech. if you need more help let know

Sounds like bad capacitors in nthe power supply, or maybe a regulator in the power supply. Have a tech take a look at this TV set for you, as there are no user replacable parts available in the TV set. Good Luck
You will need to take this television to get it repaired. This problem is so common that I expect it to happen to all flat panel tvs and urge people to keep extended warranties until they are ready to purchase another television. The repair person is going to test all of the boards. From opening the rear of the television he will be able to see if any of the capacitors are bad. There has been a big problem with that for years. Please read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Unfortunately by the time the television has gone completely into a coma and the green light is blinking and it won't come on, the power supply needs to be repaired/replaced along with the motherboard. The motherboard part itself can cost around $300 itself and to repair the power supply it can cost $150 for the labor but even more if it is replaced.
The television is switching itself off to protect itself because there is a problem with it. It may be a bad capacitor, which is usually the case but you have to catch it before it gets any worse. Because then the television will switch itself off and not come back on. The light will just continue to blink and on top of replacing the bad capacitor the entire board the capacitors are attached to might need to be replaced as well as the power supply and main board. Please do not keep turning your television on while it needs repair because it will put itself into a coma and contact a service provider asap.
The green lights on a Sharp television indicate a problem. The number of blinks is a code. The television has gone into a coma in order to protect itself. You can force this television on by doing this. Unplug the television. Hold down the vol+ and channel down button on the television and while holding them down still plug the television in. This is a temporary way to view the television but the problem will get worse if not repaired. Should the television power on this way unplug it when you want to turn it off without pressing the power button at all.
If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.
Your power transformer is likely shot. It'll cost at least $200 to have it replaced. Someone can come to your house to diagnose it. Usually costs around $65.
The STANDBY light is flashing on the television and there is no picture or sound.
Solution
The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
