My brand-new Honeywell ultraviolet cool mist humidifier is not creating a fine mist but rather sits out droplets of water, soaking the floor around it. I tried setting the humidistat on the 2nd lowest setting but the same thing happened. There is a sound that it makes, like sleet hitting a gutter, as the water spits out. The first night of use it worked fine. I was afraid I damaged the unit when I dropped the empty tank during filling, but there are no cracks nor any leaks when filled. The tank and filter are situated correctly. What would cause this problem? I can't use it if the floor gets soaked everytime I do.
This has nothing to do with any sort of nozzle as there isn't one on this device. As Skybum said, the "moat" overflows into the fan and then gets spit out as the fan turns. The device is wonderful at saturating floors but unfortunately not the air!
This is also not a consistent event. The humidifier will work for some time and then all of a sudden I wake up with a soaking wet floor.

Mine does the same thing!! I don't have a "misting nozzle" but rather a "moat" that the filter element is sitting in. This moat fills up with too much water, in turn, siphoning it out and down onto the fan... which then disperses it all over the floor.
It's like a carburetor running waaay too rich!! The tolerance of the water level is too tight for the water to not siphon out into the fan.... I've torn it apart, cleaned it, read the directions (again) and it still does this after 3 - 4 minutes on high. It'll be boxed up and returned to Costco today.

Sounds to me like you have something partially cloging the misting nozzle, if you can take the nozzle off, and check it I would bet there is something that got in there, if you cant, it might be better to just return the Humidifier where purchased for an exchange, if you can get the nozzle off, if you have a can of compressed air like they sell for dusting off computers, I would use a very short burst of that in the nozzle, and in the feed line, thanks again for your question, let me know how it works out,

Hi All,
I have been using this unit for more than 5 years now non stop, we stop when we go for vacation. The unit still works good but has a leak issue of late. This is attributed to the usage of water treatment solutions and anti-bacterial solutions that I used. Though the filter life is enhanced, the washer "WHITE" coloured band in the lid is loose and does not help arrest the water anymore. I believe it is time for me to buy one more of the same kind!. I am happy with the product.
