I have a LG 32LH30 TV. When I power on the TV I get a picture in the top half of the screen and vertical lines in the bottom half.

Also I get a thin white dashed line across the middle of the screen. After about 10 minutes I get full screen picture. However the top third of the screen is lighter than the bottom two thirds. I still have the thin white line across the middle of the screen. I am using HDMI cables to my cable box. I took the back cover off the TV and the capacitors and everything looks good.

T con board is responsible for the image you see on screen as well as any anomalies.

SOURCE: Top third is good picture, bottom 2/3 is pattern..

Try replacing the HDMI cable for a good quality cable and do not use any force when inserting it.

LG 32LH30 LCD TV Problem

IMO Seriously for $119 it's not worth it.
However, it does sound like a capacitor problem
If you are "Serious" about fixing I'd find a TV repair Forum.
Else I'd go here and get a new one.

LG plasma 50 inch tv with a fine vertical black line in the center of the screen that runs from the top of the screen to the bottom

Try changing the input device to something you are sure works. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

LG 32LH30 screen won't power up. Red light at bottom glows hi to low, but no picture. Unplugged and waited overnight, plugged in again, still no picture.

There is a way to tell if you have a bad board, or a bad panel.

1. Make the room dark and turn on the TV. Can you see it light up? If so, does it stay lit or turn right back off?

2. If the panel lights, but you have no picture, I would suspect the T-con. Some units now have the T-con incorporated with the main board, so you will need to check.

3. If you never get any light at all, then I would suspect the power supply.

4. If you only get light for a second or two, then you have a bad panel.

Multi coloured vertical stripes on plasma screen

With half of the screen working, and with a Plasma tv. I will look at the driver board as being bad. Take the back cover off, the driver pcb will be at the top or bottom of the set. They are only about 2 inches tall and will cover most of the lenth of the set (2 boards that run end to end). The board that is on the side of the tv that is bad is the bad board. Replace that board or have a tech replace it.

Screen split with black bar through center, top of picture shows in bottom

It sounds as you desribe, the vertical output IC and or the b+ feed capacitor off the Hi voltage transformer feeding the vert. IC its required voltage. Not a really hard job to replace, but not for a handi person to do. This should be left to the professional, as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and with the HI voltage and the safety issues its best to call somesone to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
