Just bought the Sparkle GeForce 8400gs 512mb PCI graphics card, and a new power supply to run it. The system starts fine until windows is suppose to open on the monitor. It just stays black. It shows me all the pre-windows start-up stuff, and keeps running afterwards. I just can't see what's going on. The computer is a Dell Optiplex gx280 running win xp.
1. Try to start in SAFE Mode by press f8 while booting. If successfull.
2. Press F8 again select enable VGA mode and continue.
3. Your monitor is not supporting the resolution reduce and restart it will work fine.
4 To reduce the resolution desktop right click, select properties goto tab setting - reduce resolution

I reduced the resolution in both VGA mode and Safe mode, and neither one worked. Although, Safe mode did allow me to install the driver for it, even that did not help.
Basicly the same issue. I have a PNY GeForce 8400 PCI 512 DDR that I just purchaced as well as a new power supply to support it. Prior to installing the drivers it booted up fine. I then installed the drivers and apon reboot I just get a black screen.
You can see the whole boot process, windows XP loading, but you never get to the login screen. Monitor still shows that its getting signal but everything is black.
I can login to safe mode fine and that works. Tried changing resolution but did nothing. Also tested with a new monitor that I have with my newest PC and it was not showing a thing either. Does not seem to be a monitor issue.
Any other ideas
