Zebra TLP2824 Printer Problem

Have performed dump and ensure that it is in page made and that it finally comes out of dump mode.

Will print perhaps 4 - 6 labels and then stop with red light. Click on button and it advances another label (sometimes skipping a label or two).

This can even occur in the dump mode! ie it starts page feeding and then half prints the dunp message and then red light. Click on it and it reprints dump message and then continues on.

Another printer works OK so I do not think this is driver related however is there another settings that will "hard boot" the printer? Anyone got ideas on what it might be?

My Zebra TLP2824 has a "red light" problem also. It seems to fail to feed properly after printing a few labels. When I press the feed button it skips a couple of labels and prints the same label that was printer previously. I have tried printing from two differen applications and get the same results.

Printer TLP2824 thermal printer prints too many labels. Prints one and then spits two more out(blank).

Clean media sensors. The blank labels are a result of the printer trying to calibrate label length.

My zebra only prints the half top

Try recalibrating by holding down the button on powerup. When the label starts to move let go. After it prints the diag page hit the button once to take it out of "dump mode"

Hi, my printer is printing blanks. Windows XP, Zebra ribbon I replaced the ribbon and still no luck. I tried setting the darkness to maximum, but that didn't work either. I tried the "dump"...

The zebra ribbon has ink on one side and the other side has a backcoating which protects the printhead. simple way to check is to peel off a label and momentarily stick to ribbon and remove. This will show you which side is inked.

If ribbon is installed correctly then reset the printer and re-calibrate it. 1. install labels and ribbon 2. power on printer. If you have a solid green light on then 3 turn printer off. 4 hold down feed key 5 power printer on and after 2 seconds release feed key. printer will perform a calibration routine and eventually print out status page. IMPORTANT 6 Hit Feed Key once more. Printer will display Out Of Dump message. Your printer has now been sucessfully calibrated.

Zebra LP2844 printer prints garbage

Sounds like you might be using a bad driver, or the printer is in dump mode.
Try hitting the green button and see if it says exiting dump.
If still having trouble, inside the printer it tells you that if you are having printing trouble:
  1. turn off the printer
  2. Hold down the feed button
  3. turn on the printer and at the third red flash release the feed button
  4. it will then feed some pagessome info and ask you to hit feed again to exit dump
  5. hit feed again and it will say exiting dump
This process re-reads the label length (so only do it with the labels you want to use in, or it will waste labels until you do it again with those in it) - but I'm suggesting it only because it enters and exits dump mode (which I have read can cause the garbage when you try to print).

Just tell me how to reset printer into factory settings. I have tried it by LPT1 connection and commands sent from command prompt, but doesn't help. The problem is that printer after print request...

To reset the printer.
1) Turn printer off.
2) Hold down feed button whilst turning printer on.
3) Let go of the feed button as soon as it starts to flash and then wait.
4) Printer will measure out 4 labels then print out a Hex dump ending with a not to "Push Feed to Exit"
5) Push feed

Follow the above instructions, if you mess around tapping the feed button (not following the above) you can change the printer between line mode and page mode. To swap that back is another storey.

Loading label roll into Zebra tlp2824-z printer

If you are using thermal paper and don't have to use ribbon, you will only need to spread apart the roll holsters and place the roll in there, At the front of the printer, next to the printhead and the pressure roll you will find two paper guides which you can spread apart (depending on the exact model by muving them with the fingers or by turning a wheel in the right hand side of the pressure roll. feed the paper through them guides and close the printer.

Ensure that the printing surface is at the top.

Zebra LP2824 not printing

Sounds like you put your printer into line mode. Line mode prints code so you can see what is sent to the printer to look for possible mistakes in the code.

To switch from line mode back to page mode.
  1. Turn printer off.
  2. Press and hold the feed button down. And switch printer on.
  3. Release the feed button when the LED flashes red.
  4. When the LED flashes green, press down the feed button.
  5. When the LED flashes amber release the feed button.
  6. Try printing now that the printer is back in page mode which is used for print your labels; line mode prints the labels code.
  7. Do this fast or else it wont work if you are slow.
