Video Cable

The Video Cable connects to the motherboard.

It then runs along under the Left Hinge, and connects to the back of LCD screen.

{LED backlighting. Does not use a screen Inverter]

Due to just normal opening, and closing of the laptop; the Video Cable may be pinched.

This can cause the connection of the Video Cable TO motherboard, to be loose; and/or LCD screen.

Solution is to partially disassemble the laptop, and PHYSICALLY make sure the connection at motherboard is tight.
Visual inspection will NOT do.

Connection at back of LCD screen needs to be Physically checked also. (Try to plug in tighter)

Also visually inspect the sheath of the Video Cable, for apparent signs of damage.
Any signs of damage to the sheath, may mean damage to the tiny wires inside the Video Cable.
(Stretched/Broken)

Also due to the age of the laptop, suspect cracking of the insulation, of the wires inside the Video Cable.
If you have a multimeter, set it to OHM's (1K), and check continuity of every wire in the Video Cable.
Or take it to a small computer store, and have the resident tech check it.

The Advent 4211 is just a rebadged MSI Wind U100, according to my findings,

That's the problem, the Video Cable,

[ In the photo, the large connector at bottom plugs into the LCD screen.
The smaller connector at the upper right plugs into the motherboard.
The separate black wire you see with the eyelet on it, is a Ground wire ]

SOURCE: My Advent 4211 netbook connects wirelessly to the

if you ran your network wizard to get the internet access shared then you should be able to share your files too.
and folders the same way ,

go to my network device,
veiw network computers,
if you can see the computers desk top then
go to Shared folders and try to see if your folders have been shared open something.

If you can see the desktop and not open the shared folders then run the network wizard again, shutdown and restart,to save your settings,
to share files between both machines you will need to drag the file into my shared folders or rightclick on the file your sharing and click on sharing, follow the prompts to share and that should fix your problem.

SOURCE: I have an Advent 4211 Netbook. When I switch on

XP is corrupted, most likely caused by a massive infection. Try a Repair. Follow this instructions http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
If this doesn't work (or goes back they way it is now very quickly) use a Linux Live-CD to backup all your files and reformat your pc and do a clean install.

Hi! Try to use the function key: FN+F11 to enable the wireless adapter. Check device manager if driver is properly installed. If yes, try to update the driver:right click on the realtek wireless LAN in device manager and then choose properties and then click update, choose automatically look for update from internet. If this doesnt work try to uninstall and reinstall the driver (make sure you restart the system after reinstalling the driver). If you have AVG as your anti virus sw try to disable it or uninstall it and then check if it will work.hope this will help...

Advent 4211

The Boot Manager file may be corrupted or as it says missing. You must reinstall the operating system. Use the hidden recovery partition if it (still) exists or the recovery media that shipped with the computer. If no recovery media came with the computer, you must contact the Vendor and order them. You will in all likelihood have to pay for them.

Hi! I can't find any way to get my Advent 4211-C (Windows XP OS) webcam working on Skype (the only webcam function I currently use). Cyberlink says there's "No available Captured Device". I don't...

Advent 4211 always require you to enable it everytime you turn the laptop on. it is Fn key + F10 I think. Look for the Function key at the top of your keyboard which has a picture of a webcam. Hold down the FN key at the bottom left, and then click on the correct 'F' key. You should see a little picture come up on the screen to say you have enabled your webcam. That should work.

How do I connect to web?

As far am I'm aware the Advent 4211 netbook is not able to connect to the Internet 'on it's own' as such. Unfortunately the word 'netbook' has been advertised with this product in many PC World stores giving the wrong impression.
The best and easiest way would be to look into mobile broadband solutions.
Of course, it wouldn't do any harm to try out your Vodafone USB on their laptop to make sure it works well enough! :)
