Backlight Issue I noticed the lcd would not come on one day so I thought it had fried. I noticed the lcd would come on for less then a second then shut off. When it came on for that short period of time I could see the input from my computer. I took it apart and discovered the lcd worked fine but the backlight did not. All the lights inside will come on but they wont STAY on. Do you know what could be causing this problem?

SOURCE: Monitor comes on, then goes back off, rinse, repeat.

Well here is a test you can do. When the monitor goes black, take a flash light and hold at it a angle towards the monitor, if you can still faintly see the image then you have a blacklight/inverter issue. Another common issue with this is the capacitors on the inside. They will also cause this. If you dont see an image then the inverter will need replacing. As the steps for replacing all of this are quite long, ill post a few helpful tuts :).

For replacing the backlight:

For checking/replacing bad capacitors:

I know these arent your monitor but its generally the same idea with all of them. If this doesnt work it will be a inverter issue and if it comes to that just let me know and ill be glad to help :D

My lcd is hpl1908w its display goes of 5 minutes on first starup and when its displays goes off i on and off the monitor display comes for fews seconds and then goes off again lcd light is green but...

well if your lcd has no bulge capacitors test your tft lamp both top & down of the screen( particularly top) with spare tft lamp. or use another screen to test it. secondly, test the c5607 transistors in the inverter section but if you know how to use spare tft lamp very well , you will easily detect between your screen & the inverter

My tv screen begins to turn blue while watching tv.

The box may be the issue----try unplugging it and wait a bit and power it back to let it boot up--same with the set.

Also if you have a DVD player look to see if it has this issue or not.

The picture appears for a second or two then goes out. You can still hear the sound. If you turn the TV off then back on the picture appears again then goes out.

You need a new backlight inverter board. Do a search online using the part number on the board to find one. Should be less than $100

My acer laptop screen is dark

Hello,

If your laptop screen is dark, it could be the backlight, inverter, or bad lcd. You can test the backlight by starting the laptop and give it a few seconds to load and take the laptop in a dark room and shine a flashlight on the lcd and see if you can see any pictures or icons. If you can, you may just need an inverter to correct the issue, If not, you may need to replace the inverter and lcd both.

If you find that you need parts to correct the issue. I would suggest that you begin with replacing the inverter first, as they are usually less expensive.

If you can supply me with the model number of the specific laptop you are having trouble with and I can try to locate more information on replacing the parts.

Thanks

Compaq v6420 inverted colors with vertical lines

Sounds much like a bad LCD.... maybe you could upload a picture online and post the link here in order to illustrate better?
Can you "flex" the screen a little and notice a difference in lines or colors? Don't bend it to the point of breaking it, just a slight tweak in flexing. If you notice changes in the screen behavior, then I would say bad lcd.
Slight chance of a mainboard issue, very slight. But none the less, I would be on the phone trying to get a warranty replacement. Sometimes they will give in when it is only days out.

Screen is dark but image is present

Hi, You are VERY LUCKY, forget the laptop you could have fried yourself. My guess is you blew the inverter board. The board amplifies the current coming in to power the LCD screen. Why did you have power running while you was working?

Dim screen

This could either be an inverter issue, or a backlight issue. Lamp replacement varies from very easy, seconds, to impossible without returning the entire panel to a service depot. There are some other possibilities (cables, motherboard problems controlling the backlight) but they are RARE. Inverters are relatively cheap (they are not "cheap", but they are still 80% less than a new LCD panel and 75% less than replacement backlight IF you could get it replaced). A new inverter is likely to be in the $50-$75 range. Any difference when working with batteries as opposed to AC? If so then it could be related to a power saving setting. But if your screen is completely dark, only visible with a light flashed at the screen, then that's not it. Good luck post a comment for the result
