My Kenmore washing machine doesn't spin fast enough to get the water out of the clothes. It does spin but when you watch it, its really slow and the clothes are still sopping wet. Whats the problem>
I also have a Kenmore with a 3 speed spin cycle. The motor appears to be direct drive, so I don't think a clutch is used. It will only spin at one speed and not the normal "fast" speed that I am used to . I am thinking that the motor is defective, (bad set of windings) and is not allowing it to spin properly. Any ideas?

2 things are possible. Can you tell if the spin cycle is engaging? If the spin cycle is not engaging properly or very fast, then the water will not leave the clothes. less likely is that the machine is not draining the water away properly or fast enough.
Hi, it means that the machine is not spinning fast enough and pumping the water away. If its not spinning enough then you have to get the machine looked at as its not clicking on in the cycle for it to spin fast enough. You also have to have it set to wash cycle that has a fast spin. If it is spinning fast then you have to look at the pump to make sure its pumping the water away.
does it drain out the water and spin but the clothes are still wet or is it not draining or spinning?set the timer to spin, open the lid and stick a screw driver into the lid switch hole and see if it spins and drains, also if it doesn't push down and let the switch up,or close the lid down and open it a little do this a few times, you should hear the switch make a clicking sound,if it doesn't click you have a bad lid switch.if the machine is draining and spinning but the clothes are wet,do the same thing with the lid switch and watch it spin with the lid open,is it spinning fast,if not you have a bad transmission and it's not spinning fast enough to remove the water out of the clothes or you could have a kink in the drain hose or something in the pump and it's not draining all the way.let me know what you find and send the model number off of the washer, the number should start with like 110.
This sounds like a motor control board is faulty. Please load a couple of towels in the machine run it. Watch the machine as it goes through its' cycles.
1. Do the towels tumble when the machine is washing ?
2. When it begins to spin, does it spin one way at a fast pace or does it spin one way and then the other ?
Answering these two questions will help in troubleshooting your problem.
First thing you need to check is the speed of the spin cycle. As long as you are not overloading the machine, it should spin the clothes pretty dry. the basket drive may need to be replaced. If it is spinning very fast, then check the drain hose, make sure the water is coming out nice and fast. If not you may have a water pump problem even lint clogged inside it.
