Good day sir/maam, you may need a driver for your SD card reader for vista. pop in the cd that came with your notebook to the cd drive. make sure its for Vista.
If still does not work, plug in a non HC sd, like a 1 gig SD card. if it works, then the card reader only supports non hc SD. ( I know it usually supports HC cards ) check also for viruses. there are viruses that can dissable sd card readers. just make sure your laptop is virus free.

guarda tu informacion primero, luego introduce el cd o dvd de winodws , reinicia tu maquina , cuando la secuecia de booteo reconoce la unidad de cd/dvd aparece una leyenda que dice presionar tecla para continuar y lo haces , luego sigue los pasos q aparecen ahi

If its above 2 gb most older laptops won't because the card is in FAT and not FAT 32. cards 4 gb and over are written differently you can hook your camera up to your computer and transfer then that way or purchase a HCSD card reader for higher capacity cards.
