It's a Realtek AC'97 Driver that we have downloaded from multiple sources. When we install it, it just turns off the PC. In the Device Manager, it shows up as Multimedia Audio Controller. Boot from safe mode ..go to control panel and the add or remove programs and uninstall sound drivers which u install.....the sound driver for this model is AC '97, SoundMAX Cadenza

ttstroh, It sounds as if your audio card has died. Start over again, do the following: 1) Turn the computer off 2) Remove the audio card 3) Restart and uninstall the drivers 4) Turn the computer off 5) Install the audio card 6) Restart and let Windows install a driver or install the driver yourself by going to the cards web site and downloading. 7) Run Windows or MS Update to confirm that the most up to date driver is installed. 8) Restart the computer
If after doing the following and the card still does not load at start up very time, the card has died. Sometimes a malware program running at startup can cause these problems so make sure that your machine is clean before doing anything.
I think you may have to get into the Bios and make sure it is turned on! this is a onboard sound componet. and there will be a switch to turn it on and off.you will get into the Bios by hitting the F1 or the F2 key when the machine hits post . Hope this helps!
First, make sure the onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS. Then make sure it's listed in Device Manager, then download the latest driver from the Asus website.
the only thing i could tell you is to try to reupdate the divers through the device manger if this does not work then you might of blown the soundcard in the machine
