NVRAM Initialization:
1. Turn the printer off.
2. Press and hold down CANCEL (X) and Start Copy (button just below the X button) buttons at the same time while powering on printer. *Keep these buttons press while you power on the printer*
3. Continue to hold down buttons until the printer display reads PERMANENT STORAGE INIT.
4. Release the buttons when "PERMANENT STORAGE INIT" is displayed. Printer will return to Ready automatically.
Also, I would add, don't try the firmware updater again, it hosed my printer, too.
Many thanks. I have tried this without success. Any other tips please ?

Here is my fix for M1212nf.
Turn off the power and unplug the power case - always!!!
If you open the flatbed cover, you will see that the LIGHT bar is all the way at the end and it won't move back. Use STAR-shade screwdriver to remove screws around the rim. There are 2 screws under the plastic rim (different size). Lift the glass cover slightly and move the Light Bar to the middle. Close the glass cover and turn on the power.
If it works, turn the power off and put back all screws.
You'r a genius bro, it's working, thank you so much :)
Thanks mate, it works for me for hp laserjet pro 400 mfp stuck on initialising.
I took scanner cover off and move scanner to right hand side.
Then turn on and all good ????
Followed your instructions it worked for me.
A Big Thank you :)
