How to reformat ASUS Eee PC 900 notebook?

ASUS Eee PC 900 has no cd drive,please send me ways on how to reformat my pc with out buying external cd drive. The PC can not work well because of viruses.

    same problem. want to reformat but can't. my asus eeepc has C: and D: drive. Main program files are stored at C: drive and has capacity of 3.75 gb while D: drive has capacity of 15.0 gb. My problem is most of the important files is stored in C: drive? How can i makeit as one drive instead of one. My plan is to make it as one drive instead of two.Coz it alway say the disk is full. Tnx

I have the linux version, not sure if you have the windows version or if it really matters. If you are looking to "reformat", you can go with the other suggestions with the USB stick. However, if you are reformatting to get back to the default settings, power on the computer and immediately hold F9. This will bring you to a screen that gives you the option to "restore factory defaults". You will lose all your previous settings, but if you were reformatting anyway, that's probably not a big concern.

    Hi Bdward711 , I did it several times with F9, but it doesnt go to that screen, it just continues to start up :( any other suggestions? if i format the C drive, and i dont have cd or usb or back up, will i be able to get default settings? it did with acer aspire one eRecovery manager, but does it also with Eee pc 900 notebook running on XP? what if i get rid of all, format all, and get Google IOS installed from usb stick on Eee pc 900? i basically only need internet

Without drive,how u installed OS?
u can format with usb pendrive support..but how can u install OS?
to install any OS u need disc drive..

    use latest updated versions of nod32 or avg8....

U need have Bootable USB drive & ghost back to ur EEE PC! I Try Oledi It work! The ghost files U can get from the disk will u buy EEE PC!

sorry folks but youve corrupted your bootloader (grub) unless you can restore to factory settings(you might be able to my asus its F10(whilst booting) if you have corrupted your system beyond external repair your only option is to use an external drive and use your operating system restoration discs to restore drivers and O.S

Eee pc 900SD. It wont boot up. say's file is missing or corrupt. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM. There is no cd\dvd rom so can i use flash drive or memory stick to replace that file? Cheers Don.W.
systems32 is part of operating system. and your computer is corrupted. Only solution is to reformat your computer by installing fresh operating system. Don't worry, you can borrow from any of your friend his EXTERNAL CDROM or DVD DRIVE to reformat your computer.

I have an asus eeepc 900. i have an error message
hi charmed4031this netbook comes with an internal harddisk on which windows is installed but lacks any optical drives so far.
You will have to get an external CD/DVD-drive plus a Windows-CD for it from which you safely can reinstall windows or replace the missing file. Please find out which windows version you are using(Win200, Win XP Home for e.g.,), lend or buy this external drive, connect devices and let the computer work it's magic, if still facing diffifculties, you know where to find us ;-)

Audio for asus eee pc 900 doesn't work
Hi thus your eeepc is still under warranty? Your eeepc comes with a recovery CD. But the problem is that laptop have no CD rom drive. You have to buy a CD rom Drive that you have to connect to usb, or you have to go to fry's and buy this tools deluxe usb 2.o to IDE cable for 2.5/3.5/5.25 drive with power adapter. find an old CD rom and use that so you can use the recovery CD that comes with the laptop. or you can do this copy that recovery CD to a 8g usb memory stick. them connect it to you eeepc. Hope this info will help you solve your problem.

hi,
most of the times if laptop or Desktop cpu falls then HDD is the very first part to be damaged.
You can try any third party software as partition magic or DM for formating the drive.

I just buy Eee PC without external
The easiest (and least expensive) way to accomplish that is by copying the contents of the CD to a USB stick and install it via the USB device.

i think you need a external cd drive for this issue..you mean that you have cd but the problem you cant install..yeah!of course,these model of laptop has no cd drive you must buy an usb cd drive.
