The Magic Chef mini frig is freezing everything even at the lowest setting. It doesn't even seem to turn off. I suspect the thermostat, but I can't seem to find anyone with a replacement part. Help?
The thermostat is part of the temperature control found on page 6 here=> MCBR445S1_Parts_List Parts can be found here=> MCBR445S Parts If you have questions please let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze
RF-7350-59 Temperature Control Thermostat

Hello,
Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.
Check on the cold control if faulty, replace the cold control, not having found any other problem, do check on plastic air deflector at the top rear of the frig had been knocked off. replaced it if faulty. As you know, the deflector directs the freezer air toward the front of the frig and the rear of the cold control, which is now functioning properly.
Good luck.......

Thanks for all the responses and I will consider them all. It also seems like the unit does not turn off. I can turn the temp control all the way to off and it seems to stay running. Does that help to narrow down the possible problem?
nplug refrigerator and remove the two wires from the thermostat. Test the thermostat with a OHM meter forr continuity and that will answer your question....JT
Thanks John. I will try that.
Hey John...I removed the thermostat and found some loose pieces of copper cntacts floating around inside the part. I checked out the part you listed and it looks slightly different than mine (2 terminals on mine; 3 terminals on "yours"). I also found a tag on the part and couldn't find it doing a search. (WPF258-I02-022 0606.0003391.1) Think it matters? .
Yes the difference may be important. Look this part over and call 800-269-2609 to insure that this is the correct part...JT http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/T...
OK, John, now I have the right part, but unfortunately, I did not tag which terminal is for the black wire and which is for the white. Does it matter? or can you tell me how it needs to be connected?
How many wires and how many connections on the thermostat? What are the colors of all the wires?
3 wires, 3 connectors; white, blk, and green. I know where the green goes; it's just the white and blk.. Would it be easier to call in with the part number?
One of the terminals attaches to the tab that grounds the thermostat. The other two black and white does not matter which way they go....Thanks John Trippp
