I have Blomberg WM87120 NBL00 Product code 717518110 and had flashing Lock in display. Bought and installed new lock and no change. Display still flashing lock. Used following procedure and every is working now.
Press pause button and hold down while turning off machine.Continue to hold pause button and turn power back on. If numbers come up on display make note of them for future reference. Release pause button and all lights on display will light up. Turn power off again and then turn back on. If machine was in a cycle it should end it and then return to normal operation. .Dont know if new lock made a difference.

SOURCE: Constantly getting an E40 error

Knowing the make and model of your machine would help!!

This sounds like a Zanussi/Electrolux error code. If it is then E40 means "Door open, door interlock, wiring or main PCB"

I'll presume that you DON'T have the door open, so lets move on from there. There is a sensor on the catch when you close the door (Its the one that locks the door when you close it so you can't open it in mid cycle). It also checks if the door is closed so it can lock the door. It MAY be that a good slam of the door will fix the issue because the catch is a bit sticky.

Equally as likely is that at some stage recently you have already slammed the door, or the machine has had a very uneven load that has caused it to shake violently, making one of the 2 wires on the sensor fall off. This will also cause an E40 and is a not uncommon fault.

If the slam doesn't get you anywhere, have a go at the following:

POWER OFF - MACHINE UNPLUGGED FROM THE WALL!

I'm making a few guesses here as I don't know the specific machine

Take the lid off the machine (Usually a couple of screws at the back of the machine at the top, undo them then give the lid a sharp thump with the heel of your hand to push it forward or backwards (The way the lid was held on by the screws should give you a good indication of which way the lis comes off, it MAY even have a couple of screws in the side near the top, hidden under a couple of little plastic caps).

Once the lid is off, take a look at the sensor for the door. It is directly mounted around or on the door catch, so use the position of the catch on the outside of the machine to figure where it is - This is going to be a tight squeeze, it will be made easier if you tip the machine back by 45 degrees so the drup suts back in the chassis and gives you more room.

You should clearly see 2 spade tags on the sensor with a wire on a spade connector attached to each one. If one is off - good news - put it back on (You might want to give it a squeeze with a pair of pliers to tighten the conenctor up a bit so it doesn't happen again.

Reassemble - Job (Hopefully) done.

If the wires were in place and the door slam didn't work, it could be the main control board that is faulty. IF the fix above didn't work, you probably need to call out someone who can test and fix it.

I HOPE I Have the correct machine!!!

SOURCE: door locked, won't turn on. won't reset

Remove the bottom panel which would give you access to the pump area if you look up along the side that the door lock is on you will see a cord with a loop on it pull this cord and the door would open. The panel must be removed in order to locate this pull cord. If you have any further questions message me back and please also remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations in the future Thanks Rick
p.s if after you open the door and you were to leave the unit unplugged for 7 minutes if the error did not go away or if the door once again locked up you would have no choice but to replace the door lock assembly on the unit Thanks again Rick

My Kenmore front load washer will not fill--it sounds like it is draining instead. The last load washed did not spin correctly and the clothes were very wet when cycle completed.

Washer Not Filling:

  • Door Not Closed and Locked
    • Front load washers won't fill if the door is not closed and locked. Listen for the door locking when starting a cycle, then pull on the door to make sure the door is closed and locked.
  • Delayed Start Feature
    • Some washers have a delay prior to filling, where the electronic control is checking the dispenser function. This is Normal.
  • Flashing Lights or Error Code on Display
    • When there is a filling issue, the washer may shut off and display one of the following codes: LF, LE, nF, IE, FH, E10 or F20.
    • If the washer is displaying one of the above error codes, then do the hard reset procedure listed below.

If the appliance is not accepting input from the control panel, follow the steps below to reset the control:

  1. Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
  2. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet or turn the breaker back on and wait 30 seconds.
  3. Press the Pause / Cancel / Stop button twice to clear the display.
  4. Start a short cycle, to check operation of the appliance, by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the appliance starts.

Incoming Power Problem If the washer won't start check to see if there is power at the electrical outlet which the washer is plugged into. Plug a lamp or radio into the outlet to check it. If the outlet is dead, check the circuit breakers or fuses for the home.

Power Cord If the washer won't start, check to be sure there is power to the electrical outlet for the home. If that is OK, the power cord itself might be defective. This is rare. You can check the power cord with an Ohm meter for continuity.
User Control and Display Board If the washer won't start, the user control and display board may be defective. Check for power to the washer first.

Timer If the washer won't start the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.

Line Fuse If the washer won't start the line fuse might have blown.

Thermal Fuse If the washer won't start the thermal fuse may have blown. It can be tested for continuity. Watch our fuse testing video for more information.

Line Fuse and Holder If the washer won't start the line fuse might have blown, or the line fuse holder might be damaged and need to be replaced.

Main Control Board If the washer won't start the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other parts and causes first.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't start the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't start the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Affinity frigidare front load washer won't start. It beeps with message flashing (DR)

Hello zabbster - Typically the DR or DO error code indicates that the door switch is not closed. Make sure that the door lock is completely closed. If the door is closed, make sure the door latch is not broken. If the latch is broken, you may possibly need to replace the door lock switch.

I own a maytag neptune washing machine. It was working o.k. and suddenly it won't start. I push the start button and it buzzes and shows a message that says,"It appears the door was not opened...

Hi Debi:
First I suggest to try unplugging the unit for 60 seconds to reset the control board. If that doesn't work then open the dispenser and remove the softner and bleach container. There is a cord near the front you can pull to open the door lock. If you still have issues with your door lock after manually opening the door, you will need to order and replace the door latch assembly.

Also I could bet you need to replace your door latch assembly. Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.
