Take the carburator apart and clean it. Also, clean needle and seat. Please let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: I am replacing the spark

I'm guessing you have a standard Champion J19LM plug, which has a gap of .030. They come pre-gapped from the mfg. and usually no need to adjust them. Most of the plugs on these engines have a .030 gap. There are very few exceptions that use a .020 gap (such as the RC12YC). Anyway, here's a link to a chart I like to use for reference: (there's a drop down menu at the top to change engines, but the standard Briggs engine is the one here).

Hope this helps. James

What's the proper gap for a toro mower spark plug

Spark plug gaps for lawnmowers and lawn tractors are not as critical as they are for motor vehicles. Generally, an acceptable spark gap is anywhere between .025" and .035".

Toro recycler mower w/electric start is leaking oil

Blown oil ring. Rebuild or replace engine. Remove spark plug if oily bad rings. Harbor Freight sells 160cc or 190cc replacement engine, Northern Tool also sells engines. Check for proper bolt pattern mounting. Remove blade and cables to carb and replace engine.

No spark

Check your armeratur air gap. Where your flywheel is, it is a magnet on the fly wheel that when it goes around the armeratur it sends a spark, the depth needs to be business card size gap from the flywheel. If you remove the pull start housing you will see the spark plug wire running to the armeratur by adjusting that closer or farther away you get more volts which means more sparks. If that doesnt work replace the part and you will get spark.
