Kenmore fridge stopped cooling

My fridge stopped cooling and then the freezer stopped freezing a few days later.  Then I unplugged it and cleaned all the coils underneath and turned it back on after 8 hours.  Then it worked again for about 5 days and stopped cooling again, then the freezer stopped freezing 2 days later.  Now I turned it off today for about 8 hours again and it started to cool and freeze again just like last time.  The relay looks to be in good shape.  What could this be?

Fridge has had leakage of water from under veg. drawers for several years. Recently stopped freezing and cooling. I emptied everything and huge amount of water drained over 2 days from underneath and from inside fridge. Restarted motor and freezer worked fine. Fridge is cool but not cold enough. Should I just give up and start shopping?

Sounds like its freezing up on you. check the drain outlet and make sure that its clear. also i would replace the defrost timer on this unit because its suppose to bring on the heaterfs to melyt the ice so thaat yoiu don't have to. they are around 30 mdollars at the appliancew repair store and all you need is the model number and serial number for the uit. after you get it it's either on the very top of the refrigerator section or in the very back. It has 4 wires going to it. good luck.

Refrigerator not cool, freezer ok

Either the freezer continues to freeze up (most likely due to low refrigerant, due to a leak), or there is an obstruction between the freezer and the refrigerator (refrigerators get their cooling from the freezer).

Given that it works after you defrost it, I'm going with low gas. Call a professional to see if the leak can be fixed. If the unit is more than 10 years old, just get a new one.

Fridge wasn't cooling but freezer was working, now both aren't

Hi,Your husband did good job, after cleaning and vacuuming, did freezer (bottom) have excessive ice?, if there's excessive ice in bottom, after cleaning, you have a defrost problem, but if there're no ice in freezer after cleaning, you got freon (gas leak) , there's a condensate loop, that passes through ref. body, from compressor that naturally develop, freon leak after few years, by rusting, normally it can be by- pass. vacuum and refill with freon, if there's no freezing, but compressor running, you'll need a mechanic, you got a freon leak. good luck.

defrost problem, check defrost thermostat on evap coil by removing the back panel in freezer for continuity, if open, replace. check heater in the same fasion, if open, replace. if both are ok, replace defrost timer, or adaptive defrost control.

Refrigerator compartment not cooling

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.
