My amp wont power both subs the same

I bought 2 Kenwood KFC's and i have been powering them with a Legacy la-2078 2400 watt amp. For the past 2 months or so the subs worked great, but jus recently i tried some customization by changing the box the subs were in. it sounded bad so i changed the box back to the original one. Somewhere in the mix of changing the boxes something went wrong because now when i have everything hooked up, both subs barely work and it sounds bad. if i unplug one of the RCA cables or one of the subs, the other one pounds as hard as it should.
I have unplugged and secured connections of all wires but there is still no change in performance.

it is severely depressing.

I almost know that its the amp. Because each sub works individually if i unplug the other one. So that would mean that the connections are good but the amp cant power them both at the same time with the same consistency.

You most likely mess up you wiring... im not sure what ohm resistance your subs are, but if its 2ohm or 4ohm you wire straight foreward one sub all positive wires to left positive, all negitive to left negitive, and the same with sub 2 to the right terminal. BUT if your subs are 8ohm then wire it with all positives from both subs to LEFT positive and wire all negitive wires to RIGHT negitive... and see if that helps and good luck!

Kenwoodxw1000f shut off after 10 sec

the problem sounds like your new sub is drawing to much power and your amp can not handle it. bridging the amp is a good way to get the full power out of your amp. But it isnt always suggested, my solution is to get a bigger amp. I install stereo systems for a living, and i tell my customers that it is smart to get an amp about 100 more watts then the rms rating of your subwoofer.

I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO WIRE THREE 3012 THWELVES TO A 1800 WATT KENWOOD AMP

Its hard to tell what you can or cant do without knowing exactly which kenwood amp you are using. Generally speaking though most kenwood amps are stable only down to 2 ohms. you will be better off just using 2 of your 12s wired in parallel- that will give you a 2 ohm load. There is a way to use all 3 simply by wiring them in series, it will end up giving you a 12 ohm load on the amp though which will work fine but you wont ever achieve the full power that the amp can do.

Blown subwoofers

Does the amp have an input 'clipping' LED? The worst thing for a speaker is to try and reproduce an unclean signal. Just make sure not to overdrive the amps input. You might also purchase higher rms rated speakers. As far as the ground is concerned, paint and/or oil, rust etc have been cleared from contact area, correct? Seems like if ground were insuffecient, power to amp would drop out.

find the rms rating of the sub and compare it to the amp.if the rms of the amp is higher than the sub you have enough power to push the sub.if its lower look at the rms of the amp if it can be bridged.you would like to see the rms matched to the sub or subs if you have enough power.

They are not wanting to play like they should

Hello again debrahood196,

Your KAC-5204 amp is only rated to put out 60 watts per channel and really cannot push very hard. If your subs are the KFC-W110S, they are 8ohm subs and you will get better power from the amp by using the bridged connections, positive (+) on the left channel and negative (-) on the right channel. Wire both positives and both negatives from both subs to the bridged connections and the output will be 150 watts into 4ohms. Giving each sub 75 watts should make them push a little harder.

Powering 4 6x9 speakers, need amp

Hi firstof all your deck isnt really putting out 52 watts x4 more like 17-22w rmsx4 ,companies like to throw out some crazy numbers it seems. If your into Kenwood try out a KAC-8404 4-channel on the mids/highs that will put 50 w x4 rms at 4 ohms or if you wanna go a lil louder try the kenwood x600f that will throw 100w rms on each 6x9 at 4 ohms no problem. My system is very similar to yours but running 4 pioneer 5x7's in all the doors and powering it with the 8404 its loud and clean ,fan cooled and no problems at all. My subs are a pair of 15's soundstream t-4's powered by an Alphasonik pma2500a its throwing 800w rms on each sub running in stereo at 2 ohms.It can drown out the mids if i set it that way but my mids /highs cant take as much power as your kenwoods can or else id step up to the x600f too.

Orion xtr15 to a american leagacy la 660 amp

your only choice is to run the amplifier at a 4 ohm mono load - this will not reult in the amplifier making much power.
Positive on sub to Positive on amp.
Negative on sub to Negative on amp.
This is your only possibility.

Adding a second sub in the same fashion will result in a 2 ohm load, and your amplifier will run at its rated potential.
