I have a Karcher electric pressure washer which has started to dump pressure before it comes up to pressure. If I slowly adjust the pressure control it comes to about 40 bar and dumps. I have stripped the pump to check for worn seals etc. but everything looks fine. I have used a 1/2 inch garden hose for years with no problems. Occationally it will come up to full pressure momentarily so it seems the pump is OK. Is there any further checks I can do?
Yes...check the check valve. A one-way directional valve, this part is also known as a DUMP valve. It opens when too much pressure builds in the hand wand (when not spraying water) in order to protect the pump, by returning the high pressure to its source reservoir. I suspect the DUMP valve is stuck in open condition (or nearly open).

My hose disconnected on my pressure washer while i was using it and now it will not work could it be a safety cut out switch
While stripping down a Karcher 620m I undid the bolts which hold pump to motor and lost about 100ml (?) of oil. Looks like a 15/40 or sae30 standard oil. It was clean and good oil.
How do I refill?
