What are the ideal picture settings for my toshiba 55" projection tv

I reset the settings and now the picture looks aweful

Possible bad solder connections in convergence circuit or vertical deflection circuit. This happens in alot of equipment. After warm up, expansion of joint pulls connections loose. Recommend not running like this, could cause component failure.

Hi, convergence circuit has failed, the IC`s will have to be changed,possibly a couple of precision support resistors as well and the set will then need to be re-converged, More questions? feel free to ask away, Happy Holidays, BMW Rider

SOURCE: toshiba 55 inch hdtv lamp

this is a crt type tv- no lamps just crt's if it was moved recently then a seal could have been damaged on the crt cuasing coolant to leak down the neck getting into the socket. this will cause trouble for sure also could have a crack in the crt. look for a sticky liquid in the bottom of the unit.
sometime the crt's can ark and rip out a video output chip on the crt socket check it out.
not common but not unheard of.cheers

I presume you unplugged set for a while and plugged it back to see if problem clears (allows set to reset).

If whatever picture you see looks 3d or colors skewed that is convergence problem.

The problems ur tv have is known as a convergence problems,it dead.The tv colors lines R,G,B mis alignment,have colors shadows pictures or 3D pictures look like.The tv convergence board have dead 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead.These parts on the tv convergence board,must be replaced these parts on the tv convergence board to solved the tv picture convergence problems.The shop,will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

Projection TV2_bing.gif sets have several common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

  • Screen Looks 3D
  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted
  • No Audio/Video - TV2_bing.gif makes a chirping sound.
Problem #2 CRT Fluid has clouded over. Symtoms
  • Dull looking video
  • White looking video
  • Halos around objects
  • Red/Orange looking video

Mitsubishi 55" Projection TV / Horizontal Wavy Lines at Start Up

this is very common with these sets. the fix is to replace 11 very very smal capacitor on what is known as the hypermodule. The ideal sitation is to replace the hypermodule. if you can find it. I can do this repair. I have done about 10 at the shop. if you need to i would suggest finding someone who is very experence in surface mounted repair

Picture shadow on rear projection Sony big screen TV

OUR TOSHIBA HAS A DOUBLE VISION/BLURRIE PICTURE. THIS PROBLEM IS ALWAYS THERE. SOMETIMES THE PICTURE IS GREAT, BUT MOST OF THE TIME ITS BLURRIE/DOUBLE. LOOKS AS IF IT ALWAYS ON 3D!! ANY SUGGESTIONS? WE WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP WE CAN GET FROM ANYONE. THANK YOU!
