Since the set does come on try to see if it has a error buffer.
Set off and using the Sony remote: Display, 5, volume down, Power.
If it has that and comes on you should see a box in middle of the screen with several items listed-----each should have a zero to the right of it----any with a number indicates an error found and the number indicates the number of times it has happened.
Let me know what you find if anything--I can offer further help but first want to know if a error has been recorded.
