Well on the Tv itself the vol up and vol down and the channel up and down will help you do this there may even be a menu key which is a nice feature but if not try pushing both the up and down vol or the up and down channel buttons at the same time. if not that try pushing different combinations you get it don't let that electronic win....lol

Westinghouse auto scan

You can try attaching an antenna to the tv and waiting to see if the autoscan finally terminates as the TV in present condition is searching for channels it can not detect. But several things are compounding your difficulty. You do not appear to have model number, remote control, or user guide. Knowledge of the model number would help with identification of the controls on the TV and without that, you are unlikely to get much in the way of assistance. You or an assistant would track down the user guide which is sometimes at the manufacturer's site and other times further afield.

If attachment of an antenna did not stop the autoscan cycle, you would likely seek the procedure to return the TV to its "defalut" state. The manual may or may not help with that but it is a starting place. Acquisition of the model number accompanyed by the brand name and the word remote could get you to a site that sold either a universal remote or better yet the original. With the original remote and a user manual, you have better proscpects of working your way through menus. Is it safe to assume you have seen chromecast on this TV before all cabling and remotes vanished.

Some Westinghouse TVs only have a power button which is a good reason to supply a model number. If there are more buttons affecting input , you might be able to get the TV to the mode where it accepts Chromecast. But if attachment of the antenna does not after a time stop the autosearch scan and any attempt to restore the tv to "default" has failed, you may have a motherboard problem.

Your journey and further assistance from someone will begin with you acquiring the model number which in on the set somewhere. But there is nothing wrong with making a quick fix attempt by attaching a TV cable. If that stops the cycle and there are other control buttons affecting input, you might just stumble into a fix. If you post again, be sure to supply that model number and brand.

Lost remote for vr-2218. Trying to do auto channel scan--says to hit ENTER, but without remote, can't do ENTER. I have FIOS, but Verizon remote won't program TV. Any idea what code may be?

Codes listed in my manual for White Westinghouse are 0169 or 0003 or 0014 or 0043. Are yousure though there isn't a flip down panel somewhere which gives you the option to access "enter"

How do you autoscan the olevia 232 t lcd hdtv? I connected an antenna and using a uneversal remote. it just sits there displaying 'no signal'

In the remote, select the input as antenna. It might be now lying as some other input. Normally the TV itself searches for channels. If it is not, go to menu in the remote control, select install-auto and press ok.

Can't autoscan air channels

It is always possible the antenna is the issue but I have a suggestion to at least try.

With the remote direct enter a known channel like 08 enter and see if it goes there. If it does not either the signal or the TV tuner may be the issue---if it does go there you can go into TV menu and should find a add a channel feature--add the ones you want/need manually.

Have a curtis tv , trying to run autoscan, it runs, but it doesn't locate any channels. I have a comcast converter box also. Not sure why autoscan isn't working. Or do I have to set up my comcast...

For the auto scan to detect there must be channels present on the CABLE that is connected to the RF input- TUNER INPUT- of the TV.
So check with your cable operator for the channels and you can connect. however if you are using a digital box then the channels are memorised on the box as only the output of the box is connect to the video/audiop inputs of the TV. if so select line in/video 1/2.

We have a 21 inch ViewSonic TV and when we switched cable carries we were told we had to do an auto scan. We do not have a manual to show us how to accomplish this task. Can you please direct us on...

Which specific TV model do you have?

I have a 19" N1932W by Viewsonic. I'll give you the steps for mine. First make sure that your input is set to TV. (Press the Input button on the remote or the TV. (My unit has Input at the upper left of the remote or the farthest right button on the TV.) Press repeatedly or use the arrows to get to TV.) Next press Menu on the remote or the TV (furthest left on the TV or below the arrow keys on the right of the remote). Use the left/right arrow keys to navigate to the Channel submenu (the icon on my TV looks like a satellite dish) and press Enter. Navigate down to the TV source line and make sure that it is set to cable with the left/right arrows (if needed). Then go to the line labeled Autoscan and press Enter. You may see an "Are you sure?". In that case select Yes and press Enter again. Another possible question is what type of channels to search (analog, digital, or All). Select the appropriate choice and press Enter again. Wait for the scan to be completed.

On some Viewsonic models, the source and autoscan options are in the TV submenu. The rest of the directions will be the same.

I hope this helps.

HOW DO I AUTO SCAN CHANNELS ON VIEWSONIC VY2430

Do you mean the VT2430? Viewsonic doesn't list a VY2430.

For my Viewsonic TV, first make sure that your input is TV. (Press the Input button on the remote (upper left) or the TV (furthest right). Use the arrow keys or multiple presses of Input to change the current input.) Next press Menu. Use the up/down arrows to navigate to the TV menu (the icon looks like a TV). Press Enter. Set the type of incoming TV signal (Cable or Air or let the tv figure it out with Auto). Then go down to the line labeled AutoScan and press Enter. You may be prompted to begin the scan or to select the type of channels to scan. Press Enter again after making the selection.

Viewsonic has the manual for the VT2430 available on their site: http://www.viewsonic.com/products/vt2430.htm#tabbox_downloads . The direct link is http://www.viewsonic.com/assets/041/11502.pdf .

I hope this helps.
