PC shows there is no audio out put device installed. Also there is no start up tone sound

Please check on your lower right side of your taskbar for a speaker icon facing right with sound waves coming out. Left click on it if it present and you should see a popup with a volume slider and mixer. Make sure the same sound icon that wis on your taskbar is not muted, "red cross out", appearing with the speaker icon.

If you are good to go, great, if not, it could be your audio driver is corrupted or no longer installed.

Please go to the Toshiba link below for the Vista drivers that apply to your model.
There mutible pages of drivers and software, please scroll throught them.
Should add the page to your "Favorites", in the event you need to go back.
Download and install as prompted, then test to see if OK.

Good Luck

A few days ago my acer aspire one's sound is laggy so i cant watch movies music videos or listen to music

Open the Control panel 2. Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon. 3. Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document. 4. If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel. 5. Double-click the sound icon in the Systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.
Check Windows services. Right Click My Computer and Manage. Choose Services and Application > Services. Choose "Windows Audio" and set to Automatic and Start. Now next you can do is If you open control panel & click device manager the window that opens will show a list of all installed hardware. Look for anything with an exclamation mark beside it, or to do with sound. If you see anything, right click it, check it isn't Disabled then select "Properties." The next window should have some tabs along the top, the one you are looking for is "Driver," you should now see an "Update driver" button. Check ur sound card information by doing this Click on start menu Click on Run Type dxdiag, enter Click on the sound tab There is button of test direct sound click on this check if there is sound Check ur registry. Check if the sound registry key is enabled or disabled. There could be an error in registry, run registry cleaner reg in out to scan for errors.

Not clear cant heaR SOUND

you may check your taskbar on the lower right hand side of your computer. There is a speaker icon situated and check if there is a a red icon which signifies mute. Then you may check your device manager ( Start > right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager) if the sound drivers are enabled. Then restart the pc and check if the sound drivers are working fine. Otherwise, you may try to download Realtek sound driver to optimize and have clearer sound..

There is no volume icon on the right hand side of my computer and i have misplaced the sound driver disc that came with the computer. what do i do to reinstall the sound

You should know what exact Motherboard model you have if you are not sure you can use software like Everest. It also has a link to manufacturers website for finding new drivers. Usually Sound driver utility puts an icon in the down right corner of your screen. And you may also have an icon from windows Control Panel Sound applet. If you want it to be visible you go to Start-Control Panel-Sound and you have to put check mark near show an icon in a taskbar. Good luck!

MY LAPTOP DOESN'T HAVE SOUND

Have you checked the sound properties to see if anything is muted? Double Click the speaker icon in the lower right hand of the screen (near clock). This will bring up a slider. Make sure "Mute" box is not checked, and adjust slider upwards. If you cannot hear any sound still, you will have to reinstall the sound card driver or if that doesnt help, then you may have to install a new sound card.
