Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder VCR Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 05, 2012

Why does neither the co-axial cable from my DVR Cable box nor the one from my TV fit into the coaxial plug on the Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo ?

..Additionally there is ONLY ONE coaxial terminal. --And I don't understand whether that ONE goes out to the TV or whether it functions as a Line In from the Cable box. --But then why aren't there 2 (TWO) coaxial terminals? ,,,More importantly, why doesn't the co-axial cable from my DVR XFinity cable box fit into the SINGLE co-axial terminal on the Magnavox recorder?!!

Check the coaxial cable connector type. There are two kinds--one that look like the RCA connector that you can just push in.

The other kind has a nut that you have tighten over the coaxial cable connector on the DVD recorder.

Why does neither the co-axial cable from my DVR Ca - 12_5_2012_11_01_29_pm.png

Hi, Sundar--Yes, my coaxial cable is the screw-in kind both from the TV and the XFinity (Comcast) cable box. --But more to my point is that this screw-in cable, which worked fine with my Sony VCR/DVD, and also the same nut-and-screw coaxial cable from my TV terminal, DO NOT screw into the Magnavox coaxial terminal! Also, as I mentioned before, Magnavox has only 1 (ONE) coaxial point! --What do I do about the 2nd (second) coaxial cable ? Something--either the TV or the Cable box will remain disconnected!--Is there someone at the Support Center who can draw me a diagram or tell me why Magnavox has just ONE coaxial terminal? --Otherwise I cannot use this recorder.

SOURCE: Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder VCR Combo DVD tray

There is typically a small rubber belt or plastic gear that goes between the tray motor and the tray. Most modern units have the plastic gear. I would bet that it is missing a tooth or stripped its teeth or possibly fell off completely. You should be able to manually push the drawer in. To open it, there should be a small hole near the tray into which you can push a straightened-out paper clip.

Good luck!

The design of the combo does not support RF output from its internal tuner. You have to use audio video or s-video output to TV. Or you have to add an RF modulator from Philips to output RF channel 3/4 analog connection. Combo RF output is just pass through DTV antenna connection.

I'm trying to copy a tv show from my DVR and the recorder keeps saying Recording Error This program is not recordable in +vr mode. What is +vr mode?

Recording mode is set wrong, change it and try again unless there is an anti-copy signal on recording which some money hungry cable companies do to screw with customers.

I cannot record digital when I try to set up my Magnavox ZV457MG9 (DVD). The unit will only record in the external L1. I have a Comcast box.

This is normal for the ZV457MG9 units. The Magnavox ZV457MG9 does not have an analog (NTSC) tuner; additionally there is no digital (ATSC or QAM) tuner either. It will only record on line in (L1) which is a composite input (limited to SD). The HDMI port on the recorder is an HDMI out to TV, not an input. The component video jacks are also only outputs.

The manual for the Magnavox ZV457MG9/F7 is available here: http://download.m4c.magnavox.com/files/z/zv427mg9_f7/zv427mg9_f7_dfu_aen.pdf . The unit was manufactured for Magnavox by Funai; thus another link to the manual is http://www.funai-corp.com/6pdf/om/ZV427MG9.pdf .

I wish that I had better news for you.

(If your DVD/VCR recorder had a tuner, it would record off a coaxial (antenna) cable input. Many DVRs can record off the HD connection (HDMI or component); that may be a better option for replacing this Magnavox unit.)

Vcr tape . does not record to dvd-r disc Using hdmi cable from TV to recorder.

It is a HDMI OUT on the DVD/VCR Recorder.

You can only record to a DVD/VCR from the External DVD/VCR Input (Connected to a Freeview, Cable or Satellite Box etc) or from one to the other.
