I have lower-than-usual water pressure from my Kohler shower head. I've replaced the mixing cap and still no results. Currently, there is no hot water running into the system, because that is temporarily shut off.
I had really low water pressure in both my shower and tub faucets: a 30-year-old Grohe system with a shower divertor knob located between the hot and cold knobs. The plumber wanted $750; said the entire system needed to be replaced. I was able to get full pressure restored using the following method: Remove the shower head and soak it in vinegar, then use a wrench to turn the shower pipe 180 degrees so it is facing upwards. Close the divertor and then pour CLR into the shower pipe. You want the CLR to stay in the upper pipe that goes to the shower. Let it stand for at least 30 minutes, then open the divertor so it runs out through the bottom faucet into the tub. Let it sit for another 30 minutes then run water through both the shower and the tub faucets. (Don't put the shower head back on until after this step, but do make sure the shower pipe is turned back to pointing downwards or you will have water all over the ceiling!) If the calcium is really thick, you may need to repeat this process more than once, but in my case not only did it restore the water pressure but it also seems to be getting better each time we use it, presumably because bits of calcium are still breaking loose each time.
You probably have a water flow reducer in the shower head. It is a rubber disk with a few holes in it. Just remove it and put the shower head back on. They are installed at the factory to save our environment. (Mine are all removed)

Your question seems to be how to adjust the temperature of a shower valve?
I'm going to assume this is a single handle faucet. Most are adjustable under the handle. This is the responsibility of the installer but sometimes they forget and you can't get them back. Anyway this requires a little mechanical ability and a few tools.
First be sure to turn off the water to the faucet, then remove the handle (allen wrench or small screw driver). Most have a temp. adjustment ring right there. Simply pull out, rotate and replace. With some you have to remove the sleeve or bonnet under the handle to expose the adjustment fitting. Reasemble and turn on. It is not uncommon to have to do this two or three times before the customer is happy with the setting. The adjustment fittings usually don't have tenp. setting numbers to go by so it might take a few tries.

hi it sounds as though the thermostat has gone on top of the can assembly, or moreover it has scaled up & the element needs replacing, if thats the case your better off buying a new unit as the cost of the can assembly & the fitting it will be nearly as much, plus witha new unit you'll be getting a 2 yr guarantee?

Did this unit come with water stops built into the faucet body? Some of the newer faucets have stops built in and they need to be turned on. Also if you aren't going to plumb the hot in, you will need to cap it off but it should run without it unless it has some sort of balance in it. I don't think so though.

I think some shower valves have a safety setting to prevent burning. maybe you could adjust that to be hotter.

1 Check if the holes in the hand held shower are not clogged with scum which generally happens over prolonged use. Clean them with a pin. 2 If this does not help, then check the the pipe connecting the shower to the water outlet. It should be clean and not clogged with foreign material which restricts the flow of water. 3 It still it does not help then you may have to fix a booster pump or raise the level of the water reservoir.
