I have an rcn service and overnight, the on/off function and volume function vanished.  Rcn tech support was no help by trying to reprogram the remote. Volume and off/on work on the tv, but the remote will not.

Unplug the cable box for about 1 to 2 minutes. By doing this it will reset the cable box to its original settings. This will bring the volume to acceptable range. Hope i was able to help.

No sound

  • 1 Make sure that your audio cables are plugged in properly to the correct ports if your audio is distorted or noisy. Every cable should be inserted completely. If you still encounter bad audio, replace the cable and then attempt to use a different device with the old cable. This will help you pinpoint the source of the bad audio problem.
  • 2 Use the "Volume up" button on the remote or TV buttons panel to turn up the TV audio volume if the volume is quiet. If the volume is still quiet, check to see if your audio source device has volume settings. If it does, turn the up the volume on your device (see your device documentation if you need help with this).
  • 3 Press the "Mute" button on your remote control to disable the mute function if you can't hear any audio. Once disabled, press and hold the "Volume up" button on your remote control to turn up the volume. If there is still no audio, press the "Menu" button on your remote control, select the "Audio" menu, and ensure that the "TV Speakers" are set to "On." If you are still not having any luck and are using the built-in TV tuner, open "MTS Audio" inside the "Tuner" menu and make sure it is set to "Stereo/English." If there is still no audio, verify that all your audio cables (including the antenna cable if you are using one) are plugged securely into the proper ports on your TV and audio source device (if applicable). If you are using an antenna, reposition it to a clear, open area; preferably near a window. If your audio source device has audio settings, check to make sure they are set the way they should be (see device documentation).

I neid go know how to reprogram one of the controls for the tv in a room but i lost the control for the tv in my living room, in the living room i have the cable box.

    jc4lifes3as

I have provided instructions on how you can program your remote to your TV. Without knowing the brand TV you have, I have provided a link with the codes you can try.

    Program to TV:

    Remotes: Basic (Television Only)
    1. Turn the Television On.
    2. Press and hold the TV Power button for three seconds until the LED flashes.
    3. Enter the three-digit code using the buttons on the number pad.
    4. Press OK. Note: The LED will flash three times.
    5. Test functionality with the TV.
    6. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

    Power Scan:

    Remote: Basic Remote (Television Only)
    1. Turn the Television On.
    2. Press and hold the TV Power button for three seconds until the LED flashes.
    3. Press and release the TV Power button.
    4. Press and release the Up or Down Arrow on the remote until the television turns off.
    5. After the television turns off, press and release the OK button.
    6. Test functionality with the TV.
    7. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

The link for the remote codes are at the bottom of the page. Select your receiver type and then your TV brand to get the codes.

I have a viore tv dvd combo need codes for it

You probably have the same problem that I found after I'd purchased my Viore TV (LC 26VF59), your cable box remote or dish network remote doesn't have the Viore codes built in. Bummer. I looked around and couldn't find codes for my Viore. Doubt you'll find them for yours. Here's a helpful suggestion I read about that works for me:

I bought for $20.00 a Sony RM-VL600 Easy Learn remote control from my electronics store. It's EZ because you only have to place the Sony head to head with the Viore remote, press TV setup and follow Sony's instructions to have its remote catch and learn the codes from your Viore remote. I only programmed my Sony for the Power On/Off, Vol Up/Down from my Viore remote. You back out of Setup and now your Sony will control the TV for those functions. Next you get your cable box or satellite remote put it head to head with the Sony remote, press the CABLE or SATELLITE set-up button on the Sony and then have it learn all the C or S functions you want from that remote. You do program in this mode the Power On/Off button, but you don't program the Vol Up/Down. The volume for the TV will work when you're all finished and operating under the Cable or Satellite button on the Sony remote.

Now, you press the TV button on the Sony and then the Power button. The TV turns on. Now you press the Cable or Sat button and then the Power button and the Cable or Sat box turns on. Like I said, even though now you are operating the Sony remote under the Cable or Sat button the TV volume instructions carry over to this side of the remote so you don't have to switch back to the TV button to raise or lower volume of the TV.

When I'm done watching, I hit the Power off and the cable box turns off. I then hit the TV button and again the Power off button and the TV turns off. So, it's a little inconvenient when starting and stopping, but at least you are using only one remote.

    Hope this has helped.

My cable tv remote will turn this unit on with the codes supplied for the remote. But the remote will not control the volume or turn the unit off. Is there another code, or is this a problem with the cable...

There has to be another code and when you find it you will probably have to "lock" your remotes volume control to your audio device not the cable box (set-up that way from cable co) once you do that the cable box will be controlled from the remote(channels) and the audio will be controlled by your receiver from the same remote without even having to switch functions.. ask your cable company for a setup guide for your remote they will probably have a copy online.

Connecting samsung home theater to samsung lcd tv and direct tv

Need to get more granular on this, Does the volume work HT remote, for like radio, cd, ipod audio? For you to use the tv audio through the HTB the tv's audio settings should be on the "fixed" output option. This gives a line level to the Amp independant of the tvs volume adhjustment. Otherwise you will need to adjust tvs volume 75% or so before the audio amp will reproduce a good volume. Turn down audio amp prior to making any adjustments. Let me know thx

    Sound Issue

Check the cable box volume. Most boxes allow you to adjust the volume from the box to the TV, and most likely it's gotten turned down. Use the "Volume" control on the cable box to bring the level back up. (Unless the box remote has been set up for RCA, it controls the box volume. Once you get the volume back up, follow the cable provider's instructions for setting the remote to control an RCA. Then the volume control will function correctly.)
