ATT Yahoo Internet Installer does not recognize the DSL modem

I had to re-install the OS of my PC, after that I tried to re-install the high speed Internet application from ATT/Yahoo and it could not finish because it didn't recognize the 2 Wire modem.

Other computers on my home network (wi-fi) are working fine an even my PC has access to Internet when I use Internet Explorer (through the same modem).

Best regards and congratulations for the great service guys.

I had to re-install the OS of my PC (SpyWare Log Jam), after that I tried to re-install the high speed Internet application from ATT/Yahoo and it could not finish because it didn't recognize the 2 Wire modem.

Other computers on my home network (wi-fi) are working fine an even my PC has access to Internet when I use direct Internet cable connection (through the same modem).

Trying to use setup "manually" gets me to a non-confirmation of the key access code (the recommended USB Flash drive SMRTKY sends me in a circular motion). I get "Depending on the wireless software running on this computer, The Wireless Network Setup Wizard might not work. refer to article 871122 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base on Microsoft.com." - which I obviously cannot get to without Internet access.

    Thanks for any help.

I would call your Internet Service Provider tech support for your DSL and try to solve the issue. It may not be the hardware issue.

ATT is your high speed internet provider and they supply you with 2wire DSL modem which has alot of power supply adapter going bad (you can Google 2wire AC dapter problem).
You can buy your own DSL modem but the key is the setting it up, it depends on how your ATT DSL system is setup, DHCP, PPOe, etc. What ever you do I hope you do have the user name and password that you may need to setup the new modem.
To explain exactly how here will take many many words and pages to explain, and without knowing your exact setup, it will be real difficult.
ATT does not care if you use your own DSL modem but they will not help you setting it up.
I would suggest you to get someone at school that knows a lot about computer, may be aks your school IT person to see if he/she can help you for free pizza.
I hope my explanation will help you out.

My dsl light on my 2wire gateway has been blinking red for an hour, it is past the service activation time and everything is set up correctly but it won't work!

did you install all the filters on all of your phone jacks?
If so then power cycle the modem "unplug it from the ac for 2-3 minutes". Try again
If still no luck open a trouble ticket with att and tell them its not connecting on the DSL side..

Not recognize my pc but not laptop

I have yet to see a single DSL modem that will allow USB and Ethernet connections simultaneously (and actually work properly). You should install a DSL router instead.

Current modem working fine with ATT DSL. I want to install a second modem (2wire) by direct connection to same DSL phone connection (in different room). I have hooked up other modem, filled in user ID and...

Is that second location also a DSL line? You may have to consult with AT&T to see if the DSL line runs to that second location.

What are you trying to accomplish? By adding a second modem, you essentially create two separate networks. Why not use a switch and connect it to the first modem, which would allow you to connect more PCs.

I'm having problems getting at&t

I am not sure I understand the problem but lert me give it a shot. If you ae gettign you email or connecting to the internet through the high speed port from the router and not the regular phone line  then your conmputer is being reconized. You may reset you home page as ATT software changes it, when being installed. If I misunderstood you , I am sorry.

Help please

you can go to any wi-fi locations near your area and access the internet on your laptop. I think AT&T offers wi-fi access to its members on any of its designated hotspot /wifi locations (nearly 15,000 company-owned & roaming) e.g. McDonald's, Barnes & Noble bookstores, leading airports, coffee shops, etc. you can visit att.com and login to your account to find more details.
or call them at: 1-888-888-7520

you don't need to install any software/ dsl installation on your laptop when you are using a public wi-fi connection, just ensure that your computer firewall is on and take precautions when sending out any personal info online.

Wireless network broken, access to WRT54G & Motorola 2210-02 via http.. denied

I have att yahoo dsl which I installed about a year ago. The process required bridging the ADSL Modem (in my case a speedstream 4100) and accepting dynamic IP addresses and configuring PPPoE on the WAN side of my Linksys router. The ATT support person walked me through the entire process over the phone even though I was comfortable with making the Linksys configuration changes as I had to do the same in China without technical support. The modem configuration was no more difficult than the router configuration as it was performed from a web browser too. The biggest warning was that to reverse the modem change (if desired) required use of a reset button because the web interface was disabled as a result of the configuration change. My advice to you especially if you are willing to attach the Linksys router to the telco modem is to contact the ATT highspeed DSL support line and see if they will walk you through it like they walked me through it. Reviewing your Linksys User's Guide and understanding the configuration of that device would probably be appreciated by the ATT Support person as well as assuring you can access the Linksys router to configure it during the call.

Fax config

Actually, you cannot send faxes through a DSL modem. You have to use a phone line or send it through the internet (not directly through the modem), at least from what I know...
