Ice maker not making ice

I have seen some very helpful info here and agree with those who are helping. However, if none of these ideas work, I have one more that I have seen work many times on new and even really old icemakers. Anyway, take out icemaker. Take cover off the icemaker that will expose a gear or two. VERY CAREFULLY turn the large gear just a half a tooth distance. If it will move a full tooth distance that's okay but don't get too tough with it. Put the cover back on, re-install, make sure the icemaker is plugged in good, arm is down in the "making ice" position and that the water is on. Then leave it completely alone over night and see if you have ice in the morning. Sometimes the motor that drives the harvest cycle gets "stuck" for lack a better term and works fine after that. I have done this with my personal icemaker a couple of times over the last 15 yrs I've had it. Repairmen will never do this or tell you little secrets like this because they don't know or don't want a second call if it doesn't work so its best for them to just sell a new one. Good luck!!! Open the freezer door and on the right side , make dure the slide is in the on position . If the red light flashes twice , then pauses , flashes twice , pauses , consistently , then close the flap door on the left side of the freezer . The light should go off . If these tests work , then the cut-off optics are good , and the icemaker needs replaced , due to the cubes not dumping . Also check the coils under the front of the refrig , to make sure they are clean of dust , lint , etc.

In my Kitchen Aid bottom freezer there is a metal arm(?) that I lift up to stop the ice maker from making ice. When I start running low on ice, I push the metal arm(?) back down for it to make ice again. Hope this is the solution for your Kitchen Aid too.

Yes that is a plastic extension for the icemaker shut off. When replaced the new one should be secured with two small zip ties. You can use the ice on/off button to shut the icemaker off manually in the mean time. When ice is displayed in the panel it is on and when it is off so is the icemaker.

It's not too difficult to remove the ice maker. A few screws and the unit will unplug from the fridge. Then you can see why the bar is not turning it off. If it's really broken, check pcappliance.com for parts or a replacement unit. Meanwhile the fridge can keep on working, and you can use trays to make ice.

you need to troubleshoot the problem, if the wire arm that tells the ice maker to stop making ice when full is in the upright position the ice maker will not make ice. the problem has to be either the switch on this arm malfunction. but probably in MOST cases it is your electronic water valve which has gone out. this is located on the water supply line on the back of the fridge at the bottom probably behind some cardboard or plastic. it is the same kind of water valve as a dishwasher uses, if it malfunctions it will not deliver water to your tray, manually fill the tray and put the arm down, if the maker dispenses the ice out of the tray, chances are your electronic valve is broken.

Today, I removed ice maker and auger motor. Found out this morning that water was running down the back of frig. inside, everything in freezer was frozen together. Found this out after removing all food from freezer. When i looked into the ice maker where water enters, that was frozen solid. After thawing and checking everthing. I put it back together in freezer. It is nine oclock now, and I do have cubes. I really can't tell you what I did, except thaw it all out. It's been running for four hours now and it seems to be all right.

sounds like the line was frozen but the water fill indicator is faulty.
