17 yr. old 35" RCA loses color intermittently. Picture & sound ok

RCA model # G35311CK 35" picture tube tv is 17 years old. Works fine but recently the color started to flicker & fade to black & white. It's getting worse now. Stays black & white more often. The picture quality is fine & audio is good. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is this the same problem for LCD TV, except it's the bulb and not CRT guns?

Three guns Red Blue and Green in the picture tube of an old CRT set. If one of the guns goes out it effects that color. Sounds like one of the guns inside of the tube is going out, To costly to replace for such an old antilog set that will have to have a convertor box next month anyway.

Green screen and distorted picture sound is good but no picture

It must be connected with the color circuit of your tv, a board connected to back end of the tube. Could be dust, cob web or carbon deposit shorting a transistor. Popping noise if loud enough can be attributed to high voltage circuit fault and picture tube.

Have it service by a qualified person.

Rca 62" PROJECTION FLATSCREEN - COLOR PROBLEM/FLICKERING SCREEN

Sounds like the red picture tube could be shorting internally which would cause the "all red" condition. In which case you'd have to replace the red tube. Are there horizontal (slightly slanted) lines through the picture as well when this is happening and a very very bright screen? If so it's most likely the tube.

42" RCA Projection TV - Sound good, but Picture goes out intermittently.

resolder the vertical output IC . bad solder there can make the CRTs blank for protection and you will lose the picture when the vertical drops out.

Toshiba cx35f70 35"

It could be a bad solder connection on either the crt drive board that attaches to the neck of the picture tube, the video processing circuits on the main printed circuit board or the picture tube itself. If you can lightly bang the sides or top of the set to get the symptom to come/go, then it is most likely a bad connectiion. If, when the screen goes green, you see fine white lines diagnonally across the screen about a half inch apart, then it is likely the picture tube.

Colors are distorted, brightness excessive

You may have a bad Fly Back transformer. The focus and screen(brightness) controls are located on this transformer. Some of the new RCA's have had problems with this transformer. If the screen control opens up the picture may either go dark or light which would cause your problem. Also a bad Picture tube could cause this. It shouldn't since the tv is not very old though. I've seen a few new ones go bad. Stargazer
