I ran an antivirus live update and restarted the computer. When the computer restarted, I had no internet connection. There are 3 blinking lights on my cable modem.I 've unplugged the modem and replugged it into the power in hopes of resetting it. Nothing. I am asking this question from a different computer.

Call your ISP, and ask for an explanation of those 3 blinking lights. It's possible that your computer is virus-infected, and your ISP has "killed" your modem, until you telephone them, so that they can tell you that your computer is virus-infected.

Cant get live updates to work and it keeps trying me I'm at risk

live updates usually have problems like this but its very rare. try to do the manual update for your virus definitions instead. go to the website and download the latest virus definitions there. when done, you can manually update your antivirus by doing this.
