Wavy diagonal lines only with component cables, not hdmi

I've got a mit's WD-62725, recently I stared getting these diagonal lines sort of "oscillating" or cascading, mainly visible on large backgrounds of solid colors like the grass on a football field or a blue screen behind a news anchor. I thought it might be a bad cable connection ( I'm using a cable box not a card ) but if I switch my input from component cables to the HDMI input the problem goes away. The bad thing is, I like the picture much better through the component cables. I tried switching my cables from the " input-DTV" to the "component 1 " input, same problem. If I have a bad cable connection somewhere, wouldn't the HDMI also give me the same distortion ?...thanks for any help, mike

I have the same TV and I'm experiencing the same problem with "wavy lines". I experience the problem with every device that is connected using the component cables (dvd player, game consoles, etc.). Only the HDMI input gives a clear picture.

Scrolling diagonal lines

The cable box signal on the components video have a too high refresh rate frequency, that is the reason for the lines.
Use RCA cables or an alternative connection.
Other solution is changing the display out settings for cable box (from PAL to NTSC etc.)

The picture on my Mitsubishi WD62725 is starting to show some wavy lines and snow. We had a repairman come and he said that it needs a new chassis which would run around $550 and he said that it was not...

If the set is 6 years old I would not put $550 into it, but a new 60-65 DLP should only run you from 1200-1800. If you check around you will find alot of Mits DLPs on the internet for even less.

Mits 65" wont power on

set could have a short and be in shut-down mode ...making just a blinking green light on the front.

remember your standby circuit is always on waiting for a remote command and can be damaged by surges in the line from storms.
please add a surge protector in future after you found the failure.

Purple lines moving diagonally on screen

This happened to me last year with the same set. Had it repaired - they replaced the "PCB Formatter" board and the problem was solved. But unfortunately, less than a year later, the problem has coem back. Good luck!
