Pitted ceramic cooktop

I was cleaning my range hood and leaning over I somehow set the lock on the cook top. How do I unlock it?

Sounds like there might be a short. If you are adventurous, I would tell you to open the top and look for shorts, otherwise, you will have to replace it because of the fire hazard.

There is nothing available to recoat your cooktop. The pattern is applied when the ceramic is in a liquid state.

1) turn off power at the breaker. 2) remove hold down screws 3) pop up cooktop out of counter top 4) remove knobs and downdraft grille 5) remove ceramic top (screws around outside and also in side grille opening) 6) unplug burners replace with new burner

you can replace the cooktop but this might cost you about the same if you just went and bought a new one

Yes. It is. i always feel weary when i see it to however the top is not glass its ceramic so it is a little stronger.if you are in fear wrap tape all the way around the top and tight. if the top is tempered then wrapping the tape around it would make it almost indestructable.

Sugar spills on a hot surface will 'pit' the glass surface. There is no way to repair. The damage caused to the surface is only cosmetic and will not affect the performance or operation.

Did you find anything out? We have had our Jenn-aire gas stove for 1 1/2 years and just noticed today that the surface has bubbled in a spot??? I did clean the oven last week.
