It works but it's not ideal. The SB-80DX won't support TTL flash on the D60, only non-TTL Auto and Manual. The SB-800 is the most capable flash unit for the D60, but you can get full TTL operation with the less expensive SB-600 or SB-400.

Metz 45 cl-1 speed light & nikon d60

If the shoe of the flash is compatible with the hot shoe of the camera then yes go for it. Should the flash shoe be different then the flash will still work but with a shoe adapter. Both are TTL so I see no reasons why they won't work. I do know of a friend who uses the Nikon with the same flash but it has the battery pack fitting and uses an adapter on the camera's hot shoe. He does weddings galore and never had a problem even though he carries a spare he has never used it.

What would it cost to get the foot replaced on a Nikon SB 28 DX speedlight

Hi Richard,

About $47.00.

Best suggestion:
Have a Nikon SB-80DX with modified battery cable for $150.00.
Faster recycle time and less weight.

Not flashing when you push the test button strongly indicates that the flash unit needs to be serviced.
