I want to either get around K9 Web Protection or Uninstall it

My dad recently changed the password to the new K9 Web Protection because he somehow figured out that I figured the other password out. The program is installed on my laptop and I do not know how to get rid of it. I have tried everything from randomly typing in a password to starting with safe mode. Nothing works and this program is pretty solid. I have also tried changing the license but I'm not so sure I've been doing it right. The program is set on High Protection so it won't even let me go on chat on my gmail. I would appreciate it SO much if someone helped me get rid of K9. Thank you.

argh! silly comment windows! in the cmd prompt you cd to System32 folder on windows 7 (like C:\Windows\System32). you do that, then follow this order very carefully: copy cmd.exe cmd1.exe then rename sethc.exe sethc1.exe then rename cmd1.exe sethc.exe

then get out of recovery mode, but typical people have NORMAL COMPUTERS. when you try to recover, hit cancel when asked about system restore. When the error message pops up, click on the details, open the text doc, and click save as. In that window, you browse to C:\Windows\System32 and basically do what you can do in the cmd prompt. copy cmd.exe, rename sethc.exe, then rename cmd.exe's copy to sethc.exe, then reboot normally. at the login screen, trigger sticky keys (hit shift many times) which brings up the command prompt. You can type explorer.exe in it to bring up SYSTEM's taskbar, which probably has internet explorer on it. That is the only browser that works on it. Warning: it may disappear randomly and make your computer slower. But SYSTEM has admin privs! do as you please. you are welcome

This is the real only way ive found after hours of searching to get rid of this. First off you need to be the computer administrator with the k9 web protection on. You need to fallow these steps carefully

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
  2. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
  3. Go to the most recent date sence the program has been installed and restore it. Note: it will take a few hours to acheive if this was a couple months ago.
Also, Youll want to go to http://www1.k9webprotection.com/getk9/download-software.php Download the software and put it in under YOUR email and edit it so it unblocks everything :) if you guys have any questions or need me to explain a little more send me an email @ [email protected] Thank you

I heard that you could press ctrl + alt + del and end the K9 Web Protection process. If that doesn't work, then you can install a key logger on your computer and on your parents computer. A key logger will keep track of every key that is pressed and ever mouse click. So, if you parents type in their password, then you will be able to see it. In addition, to keeping track of everything that is pressed, some key loggers will take a screen shot ever time a key is pressed or the mouse is clicked. The good thing about key loggers is that they are comletely discrete. There isn't an icon or program that a person could delete easily.

Do not lsten to this message if you do not have acess to your mom or dads email or whoever the k9 system sends a tempary password to!!!!!!!!!!to get a temperary password to k9 you go to the screen where it gives you three options, they say view internet activity, help, and setup. then you click on setup or internet activity and then it will probably bring up the screen that lets you put in the passcode. ehen you get there you can click on "forget password" and it will send a temperary password to your dad or moms email. you simply get into their email find the email with the tempary password the n put that in as password. you can then remove k9 from your computer or change the screw up the whole peice of **** k9 ****.

Has anyone heard of CCleaner? It does have two C's. What you do is you go on the site, go to the Tools section, and then you will see a list of programs your computer or laptop has. You go to where it says K-( Security or something like that & go to Than you click on the button that says Delete Entry. There, your K-9 problems are over! Have fun!!

There is indeed a much easier to do this guys, though i may not remember it too well, as i did it so long ago, but here it is based on how i remember it. Look up an older version of K9 online, try to find the oldest one possible, and download from a site like sourceforge that the newer one wouldn't block. As soon as you install it, i think it will overwrite the old one and you can re-configure the passwords and stuff. After leaving the 'new' old version on for awhile to trick my parents, i eventually just deleted all of K9, and gone it was.

I have figured it out. This solution does not involve uninstalling K9 or restoring you computer. If you are on windows, go to start and search (or run) for msconfig and run it. Go to services and uncheck K9 web protection. When it asks you to restart you computer, click restart. Once you have your computer running again, open your web browser. It will prompt you with a "cannot connect to K9 web service server" You will now only be able to connect to websites that support ssl (aka https) I found that the proxy website https://proximize.me/
works for almost any website you wish to visit, even if it doesent support ssl.
Happy surfing!

You can always ask a frind how to create a batch file that deletes the system drive, basically destroys your computer, then act very upset, say you were experimenting and that it was an accident then you get new laptop, if they put it on that one your SCREWED!

Have you tried going into safe mode and then doing a system restore? You don't lose any info but whatever programs are installed goes bye-bye. Whats your user status on this machine? Admin or user? Can you ctrl-alt-delete and kill the process? Hope this helped.

Warning: it may disappear randomly and make your computer slower. But SYSTEM has admin privs! do as you please. you are welcome. Also, you can delete anything (but you can't restore it from SYSTEM's recycle bin!).

HOW TO DELETE K9 AND IT IS SO ANNOYING ME WHAT CAN I DO PLEASE HELP ME I WANT TO GO ON THINGS BUT I JUST CANT I NEED SO MUCH HELP SO PLEASE HELP IT WILL BE SO GREAT NOT TO HAVE IT

Make sure you are connected to the internet before uninstalling K9 so your license is properly released. If this is not possible, you can continue to uninstall, but you will need to request a new K9 license if you choose to reinstall K9 in the future. Also, please make sure you are logged into your Windows Administrator user profile. Attempting to uninstall K9 from any other user profile than "Administrator" will not work.
  1. Click [Start].
  2. Click [Control Panel] (Note: if you cannot see this option, it may be under[Settings]).
  3. Open [Programs and Features] (Note: This will be called [Add/Remove Programs] in Windows XP).
  4. Locate Blue Coat K9 Web Protection in the list of programs and click once to highlight it.
  5. Click [Change/Remove].
  6. Click [Yes] when you are asked whether you want to completely remove K9. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UNINSTALL K9 WITHOUT A PASSWORD. By design, K9 will block all internet access should one attempt to uninstall K9 without using a password. Attempts to modify K9 at the registry level will have the same effect.

How to remove k9 protection

Solution
Please follow the instructions below to uninstall K9 Web Protection.
  2. Click [Control Panel] (Note: if you cannot see this option, it may be under [Settings]).
  7. Enter your K9 Administration password and click [Uninstall]. If you forgot your password, click the "Forgot Password..." link to have a temporary password emailed to the email address on file.
  8. When prompted to reboot your computer, click [Yes].
After rebooting your computer, K9 will be completely uninstalled

Hi im anthony and i had bought a laptop from a guy and it has k9 web protection on it and im tryn to get it took off can u pleasde help me

there are two methods you can try.
Method 1
If you have the administrator account password for the local computer and the best way to uninstall K9 web filter from the local computer is to re-install it! Re-install k9 web protection will simply get you a new license code and a new password you can enter without the need of old password.
1.Open K9 web protection website 2.Click "get K9 NOW" tab on the top-left 3.Fill out the information and your email. 4.Download the K9 Web protection software from the link included in the email and keep a copy of the license. 5.Grab a version of the K9 web protection installed on your computer, a Google search should do the job. 6.Open "Task Manager" by press (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and end the process K9filter found in the "Process" tab. 7.Now, you can safely delete the K9 web protection program files. Open computer explorer and go to the folder where K9 is originally installed. It can be found mostly at C:\Program Files/Blue Coat k9 Web Protection. 8.Remove the contents of the folder but not the folder. 9.Run the K9 web protection setup/installer file which has the same version as the one you just delete 10.Provide the license and create your new password 11.Point the installation folder to the same folder you just empty the contents earlier on 12.Now you can have a re-installed K9 web protection with a password you know. How do you uninstall K9 web protection now? Use the new password you just created If something goes wrong, install the K9 web protection program downloaded from Step 4.
Method 2
Reboot Windows into safe mode: restart your computer and hold "F8? key until you see the menu to choose "Safe Mode" Login to windows and go to "Program Files" directory and delete the K9 folder manually (delete only the contents but leave the folder) Click "Start"->"Run" and type "msconfig" Check the tab "Services" and tab "Startup" Un-check anything that is related to k9 If somehow this method is messed up, try to download K9 again to at least restore your previous installation. If this still does not work, try to install Revo Uninstaller.
