When knob is on extra small load and I need to move to higher it is almost impossible. I was going to try a tool but the parts look plastic and I am afraid to break. Any help thank you. Deborah

SOURCE: Speed knob and stem broken from Kenmore washer Model #11022722100. What parts do I need and how do I replace parts on washer.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question&$&$

The set knob on my kenmore 70 series top load washer is stripped and I can't figure out how to remove it. The knob just spins and will not move inner set arrow to proper load cycle

flip up the controls

The timer has a hollow shaft. The tip of the shaft has
ears on it. To keep the knob on there a small rod is shoved up into the hollow shaft. The rod spreads the tip and retains the knob. To remove the knob pull out the rod a half inch and the knob and skirt is easily removed.

Waterintake stops after approx. 35 sec.waterlevel is to low, detergent compartement will not open because of low waterlevel and also water will not heat, because heating element is not covered with water....

The machine fills by time only as you have already determined. The intake screen on the water valve is probably plugged up and cleaning it should solve your problem. You will have to turn off the supply to the dishwasher and disconnect the water feed line. Eric

Washer didnt fill when turned on, but filled when holding "reset"

sounds like your water level switch is bad OR the small hose that goes from the waterlevel switch to the bottom of the tank has a hole in it.Try replacing this small hose first.you can go to an auto parts store and match it up.it's usually about 3' long and about 1/4" inside diameter and about 99cents a foot.

Washer has timing issue, says it will wash for 45 minutes and wash for 1 hour and 15 minutes. The cycle says 50 minutes but it ends up taking 75 minutes.

This is really not uncommon. The more and more sophistocated the machines become, the more small decisions they make on their own. I have seen a one hour load take up to 2.5 hours.

If a load is off balanced, it will change the time. If the spin cycle doesn't spin enough water out, it will increase the time, and may still be too wet. (In that case you need to clean out the lint/drain trap.)

If you really want more control and quicker washes, there will be a setting like "Quick wash " or "Fast wash." Theis setting is quite basic and does exactly what you tell it to do, and you can always add and extra rinse, or higher speed cycles.

Kenmores and GEs are the highest reported rate of longer times. Relax. The more you add, ie, delicate, two rinses, light spin, medium dry, the longer it will take. It's just trying to do its job! :)

Kenmore 90 series top loader washer water level.

There are easy checks before you replace the level selector body

remove the trim plates at both ends of the control panel to expose Phillips head screws 1 at each end. remove the screws
lift and swing the control panel up and over the back, it is hinged at the top.
The washer can be operated in this condition for testing

1 Rremove the air hose, and blow it out.
often water remains in the tube after changing levels, the water is not compressible so a small change in water level in the tank, makes too much difference in the sensor.
reconnect the tube and try a cycle ~1/3 chance of fixing it

If fail,
2 The spring inside Kenmore water level sensors that reacts to air pressure in the tube is not up to the job and stretches, not noticeable till changing water level settings moves the anchor point of the spring.
pull off water level knob from control panel front, from control panel back depress lock tab at right of level selector body rotate counter clockwise 45 deg and remove
adjacent to selector knob shaft is 1/8inch nut, turn clockwise to raise water level counter-clockwise to lower water level, test, adjust, test adjust ~1/2chance of fixing it

If fail
replace level selector body
