The first thing to check is the thermal fuse. It is located in the back of the dryer, and you need to remove the back panel to get to it, which involves taking out about a dozen screws. To check it, unplug the dryer, pull the wires off the thermal fuse, connect them to each other with an alligator clip lead, plug the dryer in and see if the dryer gets hot.

SOURCE: how do i access the gas coils on my roper dryer?

http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php This is a good site for parts and help. You can see the screws #2 holding the front on. Release the spring clips #20 with a putty knife in the gap on the front.

Check all your connections. Must be a loose wire somewhere.

SOURCE: dryer wont stay hot

Assuming you have removed the lower access panel (two or three scres all the way at the bottom of the lower front panel) to view the glow plug (ignitor), if you see the ignitor cycle on but the gas does not ignite after the machine initially heated in the beginning of the cycle you will want to replace your gas valve coils. They are the round black things mounted to the top of your gas valve.
This should solve your problem.
Good luck to you!!

Roper Model RGS7648EQ3 (gas) that wont stay lit.

if the ignitor is liting for the first 15 to 30 minutes and then it will not lite again you have bad gas coils, when they are failing they will work until they get hot then they shut down, the coils are located on top of the gas valve, take out the two phillips screws, remove the cover, change out one coil at a time, pull off the wire connector and install the new coils

Is ther a pilot light my roper rgs7648kq2 dryer is not heating up what could the problem be

All modern gas dryers use a hot surface igniton system(very old dryers had pilots). There could be a problem with the igniter, gas valve, ect. If you remove the bottom cover panel or inspection cap you can check to see if the hot surface igniter starts to glow when dryer is intially started. Just because the igniter does not glow does not mean that the igniter is the problem. There are two gas valves that work in conjunction with the ignition system as a safety(one could be defective). Also make sure that the gas connector at the back of the dryer is not restricted(kinked) and the gas line valve did not get shut off some how.

Dryer gets hot but wont dry clothes

Do you know if the dryer vent is free of obstructions?Check outside where the dryer vents outside ,and see if the air is weak or flowing freely. If it is not clogged the air should be pretty strong from the vent outside. If it has blockage it will definitly take longer to dry your clothes.
