I think a close inspection of the convergence chips and the RESISTORS in front of them will show one is burnt----likely going to have to replace both STK chips and any burnt or bad resistors right there.

You need to replace the STK ICs which are Convergence ICs STK392-110 use 120s or 150s
also check the small ohm resistors around ICs . They are Big Black ICs and will have part number on them ,should be located on the Right hand side of Chassis .

Your Hitachi 51UWX20B is an HDTV-Ready TV. No Digital Tuner. An HDTV-Ready requires an external high-definition TV receiver (digital tuner) in order to receive HDTV signals. These external receivers can be called an HDTV Tuner, set-top-box, decoder or DTV Converter Box . So you will be required to purchase a converter box to receive over the air programming from an external antenna.
One of your capacitors n the video board burnt out. You will have to use a multi-tester or capacitor tester with service manual to determine which capacitor it was that burnt out.
User can't really fix this at all. Even a regular TV shop would have problem replacing individual components. What you can try to do is maybe order the board that has the burnt components, and raplace it yourself.
I know my response is a while after you asked, but to clean the inside of the tv case is pretty simple.
Remove the bottom speaker cover...on this model you just pull it off. There is no clips or screws.
Once the speaker cover is off you will see the bottom of the screen, there is 4-5 screws on the bottom on each side....I think 4 in the gray plastic and 1 in a black metal strap. With all of those screws out pull out SLIGHTLY on the screen and push up. The top is held in with a down force clamp and you are just popping it out of that....It will pop back in once you are done.
Now clean the back side of the screen, the mirror and CAREFULLY dust off the lenses. I myself did not want to use any cleaners (to avoid streaking) so I used a new microfiber dusting cloth. My picture became brighter and the "crack" that I thought I had was just a dust web....
Order a color card for like 10 to 40 dollars put it in and it should make ir as good as new. you can get them from a tv part site. and 1600 dollars isnt possible they are 899 new at brandsmart.
