Hitachi Plasma EDTV has green dots flickering all over screen

For several months now, our Hitachi plasma tv has little green dots over most of the screen. They flicker, almost like tv snow, and are more noticeable on a darker screen image. In some instances they are not noticeable and sometimes they affect how well you view a show. What in the world could be wrong? THanks in advance for any solutions.

I know I a few years late, but for the benefit of others I'll share my experience. I have a Hitachi 42EDT41 and it had lots of green snow-like static dots - mostly over black areas of the screen. Other forum posts suggested adjusting the VSCAN on the Y-Sustain board (upper left corner when viewed from the back w/back panel/cover off), but my Hitachi had not VSCAN knob to adjust. That's when I read this post which informed me that what I was looking for was the VR1 or VR2 knob on the Y-Sustain board. I slowly adjusted the VR1 (counter-clockwise) as suggested. The green dots diminished but still remained in one small area. I, then, rotated the VR1 knob back to where I marked it and lo-and-behold the green dots were gone. My thanks to pleasefixitDave for the post. I saved a lot of $ and it was super easy :)

That is called diffusion. that can be adjusted out in most cases by adjusting the y sustain pcb but can also be the main pcb, the logic pcb and panel itself but not likely.

How to fix a plasma tv from flickering/flashing?

If the Vs & Va voltages have changed, this should happen. In most cases, this might happen with some fault to the main power regulator board. Contact any service technician.
If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Blue dots on my lcdtv

Sometimes the voltage can be set to high by the factory. Throughout time, blue dots will appear. You will have to remove the back cover off the tv, find the "voltage Screws (they are labeled) and turn down (left) JUST A Notch. Have seen this done many times.

Pray that the panel isn't blown out or bad projector tubes. They are expensive.

Blue dots and screen flicker are VERY common on the newer LCD and Plasmas

Also, if you have a pixel setting on your TV (not sure if that one has it) Try setting it to
480p.

Just a Black screen

needs a Y-Sustain board, about a 300 dollar part, unless you have a warinty, also try turning the tv on, after you get a green light, unplug the tv, after 15 seconds plug it back in, sometimes will make tv come back on

42HDS69 42 in. Plasma has several thin green vertical lines in middle of screen

If the set is still in warranty, call for warranty service. If not and you feel comfortable working on the set, carefully open up the back and reseat all of hte cables and connectors. This can be caused by marginal connections inside the set.

Keep us posted on your progress and results.
