Can you try and reset the router once. I guess that should help . There should be a reset button behind the router and the reset procedure should be present in the manual

SOURCE: Laptop can't see my network

It does sound like you may need to upgrade firmware. Not sure what router you have but you can download firmware & install from the router's website.

You might like to try:

1. Disable Windows Firewall

2. In Internet Options Control Panel go to the connection tab and then the LAN Settings where you can uncheck the "Automatically detect settings" button.

3. If you have any third party software, I would get rid of this and ensure that the"Windows Zero Configuration" in the Services menu is set to "Automatic" and the status is started.

Interestingly, Anti Virus programs sometimes interfere with wireless set up - you could see if it helps by disabling it whilst configuring your wireless. It might also be worth trying to connect without any encryption code & see if that will connect - you can then sort out the encryption.

Status and WLAN lights only blink

DI-624 is a bit old and mine has failed from overheating on occasion. Check that it is not in direct sunlight. If it is hot to the touch, see if it works after cooling off a bit. I had a client who had no problems for five months, until spring. One day his wifi crapped out every time the sun came out and it took me forever to figure that one out.

My linksys wrt160n wireless router light is blinking

Welcome to FixYa
Indication of Router Lights:
  • Power light blinks. If LAN or WAN cable is plugged in, their respective lights will flash on activity.
  • Power light turns off for several seconds.
  • All lights, except power light, turn on and then off.
  • Power light blinks slowly, then faster, and WLAN light will turn on.
  • Once Power light and WLAN light are on solid, the router is fully rebooted.

A working router should show solid green power light. upgrade the firmware of the router.

Hi, I have a dlink DSL-G604T router, wlan light not on.

Hello there!

Only thing that can cause your wlan light not working consistantly or with some blinks (which is normal thing) is bad lan cable which leads from your ADSL modem to your wlan entrance on your wireless router, please check that cable in order to fix that problem. Cable doesnt need to be coaxial so it can have 2 different lan sets (2 poles of exits male and female exit). Thats it ! =)

Please rate solution! =)

My wlan light keep going on and off on my wrt54g

Also check if the power light on your router is blinking. If it is blinking, that's an indication of hardware failure. To revive it, do a hard reset. Press and hold the power button of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power. Wait for 30 seconds again before you plug it back in.

Wireless-G Broadband Router

The WLAN light will normally blink if there is data passing through. Most often if the problem is that you need a reboot for the router to work again you will need to update the firmware of your router. You need to go to www.linksys.com then click on the top right search then look for your model number then select the option to WRT54G downloads. Search for your model and then download the firmware. After that on a computer wired to your router go to http://192.168.1.1 through Internet Explorer. Click on the administration tab then click Choose. Select the file that you downloaded then click on Upgrade. That should fix your problem.
