Question about Acer Aspire 5551 Notebook
My wife was using my Acer Apsire 5551 laptop earlier today, she told me she tilted it and the fan made a grinding noise. She turned it off and now there seems to be something really small rolling around in the fan or something, I shook it, but nothing came out. Does anyone have a clue what it might be and how I could fix it?
You need to tear down it into pieces to remove that object. Consult a technician

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

I guess I can assume that you have it plugged into the ac power, so you know its not a power problem. We also know its not a problem with the power switch since the light turns on. So that leaves, motherboard, cpu, and ram possible problems. Ram would unlikely cause such a hault. Even with no ram, I believe the computer would make horrible beeping noises. So if its a problem with the motherboard or cpu, its pretty much trash, unless you want to waste the money on ebay or some place for another cpu to try to swap.

SOURCE: acer aspire 5630 wont turn on
reinstall os from cd.by shutting down in that manner he was probably in the middle of something and didnt close the program resulting in missing sys32 files which is why it wont start.this type of thing happens often and not only for that reason.
do you get anything at all on screen .
can u enter setup(bios)
try removing memory ,make sure free from dust and replace.
no screen is either missing memory, fault with hd(bad sectors)
fault with bios(hardly ever),damaged or dislodged graphics card or damaged cpu(processor)

This may help.
Give this a try.
Turn the computer completely off, hook up the external monitor, and reboot. After bootup(and still not seeing the other monitor) right click in the middle of your LAPTOP screen, select Properties, this will bring up the Display Properties window. Go to the Settings tab(far right). Please ensure that there are two monitors that appear. You should see a number 1 and number 2. Click on #1, this is your laptop screen, and ensure that there are tick marks next to:
Use this Device as the primary monitor. And Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor.
Then Click on #2 and ensure that there IS NOT a tick mark in the first box but that there IS one in the second.
Please reply if you require further assistance. It may be that that monitor is not compatible with your laptop. I would also suggest that you visit the manufacturers site of the laptop ond make sure you have all the latest video and chipset drivers.

It’s a very common BIOS error on the AspireOne series and it is called "Black Death" or "Sudden Death".
This worked for me, but it might not for you, so do this at your own risk.
Steps to prepare the USB drive:
If it doesn’t work, try reflashing again. The keypress sequence is very important.
