My wet dry vac model # L250 don't have suction. What do I do?

If the loss of suction occurred during wet vac,the float has blocked the discharge vent , and this can be cleared by unplugging vac and emptying tank. if you tip the unit over while running it will close exhaust vent and can be cleared by turning unit off and wait 1 minute and restart unit. The most common causes of loss of suction are dirty filters or a clog in the hose. To troubleshoot, remove the hose from the vacuum, place your hand at the opening of the tank inlet and turn the vac on.
If you feel suction at the inlet, the issue is with your hose or accessories. Check your hose and accessories for a clog. If no clogs are found, check the hose for a hole or crack - even a small crack can cause a loss of suction. If a crack or hole is found, replace the hose.
If you do not feel suction at the inlet, turn the vacuum off and unplug from the outlet. Follow the steps in the user manual that came with the vac to clean the filter. Check the filter for rips or tears; replace with a new filter if any are found. Empty the tank or if you are using a collection bag replace it if it's full. Make sure the filters are properly installed then secure the housing to the tank. Plug the cord into the outlet, turn the unit on and place your hand at the tank inlet to check for suction. If you still do not feel suction at the inlet, turn the vacuum off and unplug from the outlet. Check the tank for any cracks and make sure the drain cap, if applicable, is secured to the tank.

Breaker keeps tripping

If you can unplug the central vac and plug it into a different outlet that you know is on a different breaker and test it out to see if it trips the breaker,or temporarily rewire the central vac to a different power supply.Make sure the breaker is the correct amperage for the central vac, last read the instructions to see if you need a dedicated circuit breaker, you might have to many accessories plugged into that outlet.

I can't find the owner's manual to our shop vac. What's involved in converting it from a dry vac to a wet vac? I think it does both, but I've only ever used it to clean the car.

generally you remove the filter and just use the foam sleeve (if it has one) it should have a float ball in a cage under the filter. this is to keep the water from going into the motor if it gets too full. That is pretty much it. You should have it plugged into a GFCI outlet when using it for wet pick up, also do not pick up flammable or hazardous liquids.

I have a brand new KitchenAid mixer that is 5 years old and never used. I unpacked it this morning and it won't turn on, no noise, no movement, nothing. Help.

Please check manually the motor and see if it moves freely. Now make sure that the power plug and the connections to the switch are not tampered , check the continuity of the plug to the switch and to the motors.
If you notice any dirt or insects make sure that this has not clogged on the motor. If so clean using a degreasing spray- WD40- would be recommended.
If the motor is tight , lightly oil or degrease using the spray while manually rotating.
Once this is done connect the power while taking all precaution. Use the meter to check the flow of the circuit to the switch and to the motor. If there is a trip switch see that it is reset.
If there is power to the motor and still it does not work the brushes might be dirty and might need a cleaning/ reset.

My eureka enviro vac shut off and wont turn back on it was clogged but does not smell burnt . is there a reset or some kind of shut off when it gets clogged?

Same thing happened to me. I checked the owner's manual and it turns out the Eureka Envirovac has a built-in thermal cut-off switch. So anytime the motor gets too hot, it just shuts down. Most of the time this is because it gets plugged or the filter is too dirty. In my case, the dust basket thingy and filter were clogged beyond belief. Probably would help to clean that more regularly in hindsight. Supposedly it will turn back on after the recommended 30 minute wait.

Using my wet/dry vac - less than 5 hours on the thing - it just stopped - can't get it to switch back on. Tried different plugs - different days. Although I purchased over 2 years ago, it has hardly been...

It may have gotten hot if you went too long before cleaning the filter. It sounds like you may have burnt it up. I hope not! You might also check to see if you tripped a breaker on the electrical panel. Try plugging it in an outlet that is not on the same circuit. If it works in another outlet, then you have just tripped a breaker.

Good Luck!

Hoover Mach 5 turns off after 5 minutes of using. Can you advise the problem?

5 minutes everytime? If so, raise brush all the way, and vacuum next to nothing. in fact, tilt vac up so the brush touches nothing. wait 5 minutes. If it doesn't shut off, your brush is set too high. if it does, the motor is over heating. make sure bag is empty, no debris in brush, filters clean and make sure you're not plugged into an outlet that a breaker on the outlet can pop too.
