3 year old large screen Dell plasma. For the past 3 days an error

Message "weak signal" appears constantly at upper left of screen in blue on a black background. The weak signal on blue is about 2 '' x 4 " while the black background is about 6 ''x 9 '' The picture is otherwise good with no evidence of a weak signal. I unplugged the cable box and the weak signal sign remained. Is this a sign that this TV is about to have a major failure and need replacing?

3 year old Dell plasma tv. "weak signal" sign appears constantly at upper left of screen. "weak signal" sign is on blue background over a larger black background. Otherwise picture is ok. Assuming that the problem is probably the powerboard and the lack of trained hi tech tv tecks in this area, would it be more economical to replace the tv (given the drop in price over the past 3 years) vs. the costs of parts and labor to replace the powerboard?

Some of the answers I've read make sense, but why don't you start with the obvious first: I strongly recommend calling your cable or satellite company to make sure that you don't actually have "a weak signal" first before you go paying for tv repair, etc.
Does it not make sense that this 'warning feature' was programmed into your tv because weak signals are common - not because of an electronic problem?
There's no use spending lot's of money if the real problem can be solved with a $10 signal booster or re-aiming a satellite dish. Good luck!

Have you by any chance changed or added a tv in another room about the same time this showed up? I have a dell plasma hooked up to my cable and had the same problem when I added another tv in my daughters room. I installed a signal booster and the problem went away. Obviously if nothing has changed elsewhere in the house, this can't be the problem.

YOu are correct in the assumption that the power board is approaching failure. Given the fact that the unit is a few years old and there has been mass changes in the components. The cost to obtain an new powerboard vs a new tv is a given. New TV wins at this stage of the game.

For all my experience on t.v.
YOU GUESSED IT. I have one that showed dominant colors in the corners. Did a simulated deguazing on the front. Cleared it up but the screen just went to the next stage of break. Live chat and I'l tell you how to do it. If you found this helpful, please post as such.

Tv went black no sound either. TV only five years old,is there anything i can do? Thanks James

Cannot offer solution but my mine has also gone bad.  At first a black shadow appeared on the left side of the screen.  Took it to the authorized service center.  they kept it a few days, said nothing could be done.  Used it anyway for the next 5 years when suddenly it went black (or sometimes blue) after working perfectly for the first 5 minutes. A sharp rap next to the right speaker fixed it a few times, but no more.  Good luck.
