I just hooked up a new Kenmore refrigerator today and ran the water line to the ice maker, but it doen't work. The water gets to the valve on the back of the refrigerator, but it doesn't go any farther. It doesn't appear that water is going up the line to the ice maker. There is no obvious blockage; there seems to be sufficient water pressure. Still, no ice.
According to the manufacture, you must wait 24hrs to reap the benefits of the automatic ice maker. I was helping a friend the other day install a water line to a side by side unit that had been running for well over a week and after turning the water on we got no ice. We contacted the manufacture and they said "there is a 24hr waiting period". This makes no sense. I wasn't trying to get a gun permit, just ice.
First off relax and give it time the ice maker need to cool to a certain temp before making any ice, 24 hours is a reccomnded minimum

Yes, the bar is down. But there is no water in the actual ice making tray itself. The water isn't making it that far. It appears to be stopping at the valve low in the back.
I have a similar problem. The water is making it to the filter but not to the icemaker or to the water dispensor on the freezer door. I don't see any blockage and there are no leaks.
new fridgidaire water to the valve but no water to the ice maker
Have you checked to make sure that the bar that stops operation of the icemaker is in the down position so it will work?
